a friend of mine has his pool chlorination by magnesium salts. He has observed that when people get into the pool not all comment about the taste. He suspects that if you taste it strongly then you are deficient in magnesium.

I started taking chelated magnesium some year or so ago because I also suspected it would have an effect on my irregular heart beats. It sort of did, then it stopped being effective. I can say now that I no longer taste his pool, but I had to go to metoprolol to solve the irregular beats (that became tachycardia a few months later).

(The process of systematic investigation and principles of evidence called) Science is unable to find any clear evidence on the subject. If you feel it works for you then do it.
