Beautiful story and amazing that a BAV repair gave this very young patient the ability to return to the sport he so loves...

“Owen embodies perseverance and resiliency,” said Brendan. “He’s always been a role model for us. We could definitely tell he was missing [lacrosse], but he wouldn’t complain. He was on the sidelines at most practices and games because he cares so much about the team.”

On July 5, 2017, Toland was cleared to play and joined his returning teammates at a summer tournament in Maryland.

The senior started at attack throughout another successful regular season for L-S, tallying 30 goals and 18 assists. Toland will continue his lacrosse career at Union College next year and said he is finally playing without any second thoughts about his heart.
