St. Jude mechanical installed on January 29, 1999.
It’s hard to believe where the time has gone.
Vow..congratulations...21 years on mechanical valve? Please share your journey? Was it easy or tough? And major incidents in these 21 yrs? Stroke or bleeding etc? Thanks

As I remember, the worst was prior to the surgery itself. I can’t recall the number of times the surgery was cancelled including the day I was pre-sedated.
Following surgery everything proceeded as per expectations although I thought a little slow.
I’ve been fine ever since. no strokes or bleeding.
Are you on the wait list?

My wife already had a mitral valve replacement in 2019. Just asking to know how much the life expectancy can be expected if INR is well maintained..and how much is risk of stroke and bleeding..I am encouraged by your example. Thanks
