Has anyone had Covid interfere with Coumadin and INR levels?

I have had the vid twice now on top of 3 vaccinations. Took Lagevrio and just felt like a cold. No INR changes. Have to hold off the bivalent booster for 3 months after infection. Lagevrio has no med interactions while Paxlovid does. I always press easy button.

My INR is up to 2.0 today, so the dose increases seemed to do the trick to counteract the Paxlovid INR decrease.

@pellicle, thanks so much for the offer to help. I should be OK and return to my stable INR taking a 10mg daily dose. Taking Paxlovid was the first I've needed to adjust my dose in months.

If anyone with a mechanical heart valve takes Paxlovid, monitor your INR closely, as you could end up at a scary low INR fairly easily.

There are lots of other drug interactions with Paxlovid as well. All three prescription meds I take needed to be adjusted or eliminated for Paxlovid. On the flip side, I believe Paxlovid is the best treatment to prevent severe COVID in high-risk folks. Too bad it has so many drug interactions.

excellent, make sure you keep an eye on it, don't "overshoot" (like to 3.5 or something) and don't crash again (because you aren't maintaining the actual dose needed.

I don't know how long you'll be on the medication.

this is exactly why I continue to bang on about the idea of "measure weekly" and not "I'm ok {stable}, it hasn't changed in the last week, so I'll move to testing fortnightly ... monthly ... now and then ... wake up in hospital."

being blasé leads to being blindsided.

Too bad it has so many drug interactions.

yes, but its also simple to manage ... what we don't know is what other hidden interactions other drugs have with the Warfarin replacement options which we have no way of measuring.

Inr checked today and it’s 1.7. Going to go up about 5 % more warfarin. Will go up .5 mg a week to a total of 6.5 mg a week to keep it at around 2. Currently at 6mg/week. INR management is not rocket science. Check your inr to see where you are at .
