Exanta - Next Year?

I have just found this statement from AstraZeneca regarding Exanta. I hope it means it's being released in the USA next year.

"Exanta, the oral anticoagulant - major indications on track - filing for first indication in prevention of venous thromboembolism (VTE) expected Q3 2002 (EU)/ Q2 2003 (US); stroke prevention filing expected Q2 2003 (EU/US"

However, does anyone know what they mean by "filing for first indication"?

Hi Icarus,

I don't think this release is for coumadin replacement for heart valve patients. It is for thos taking Coumadin to prevent other clotting issues, the legs I believe.


Maybe Matrix or Al can shed some light on this, and also to your question regarding "1st Indication".
