Empire State Marathon

In Syracuse, NY this morning heading out to run with a couple dozen other HEART team members. Some are doing the half marathon, some the 4-person relay. We have no one in the full marathon this year as in the past. This is the 8th annual gathering of cardiac runners in the Northeast.

I hope I can find things to inspire me when I retire. I enjoyed looking at your paintings btw. It looks like you live in a pretty part of the world.

We did OK. Team 1 ran 4:16, but I slowed them down a lot with my 12 minute miles even though I was a bit ahead of my projected time. Team 2 ran 4:20 and 6 people ran the half marathon. Mostly we had fun making or remaking acquaintances. It will be months before anyone begins planning a 2014 meetup.

It was so good seeing Tom, Jack and all the other HEART athletes!

We're planning our next meet-up and we'll keep you posted. In the meantime - a bunch of us will be headed out for the Heart Mini (they've got a 5K and 10K walk - also a 5K, 15K and half marathon run) - sponsored by the American Heart Association
