I set my date for the mitral valve replacement repeat surgery and they have to replace my tricuspid valve also, it’s leaking severe. Being done at Baylor, White, Scott in Plano, TX. Have to go down there from Oklahoma on the 11th for a cat scan and COVID test, then back down there to be admitted on the 14th so the can get all fluid off before surgery on June 17th. Been trying to relax and still haven’t been able to yet and it’s almost upon me. I can never get ready for these surgeries.
Wishing you a successful surgery and hopefully your last! You got this!

Will you have someone there with you and for you? Best of luck! (I have to go and purchase some new hiking boots for my visualization!)
Yes, my husband, son and step daughter will be there. Surgeon said most of his patients are released in six days after surgery. Hopefully I will have an uncomplicated surgery. Have to go in on the 14th so he can get fluid off before surgery. Last time I had complications with fluid. They had to tube me and drain it off with a needle.

Next week is getting here too soon. Starting to have anxiety attacks, like I need those. Been having a lot of trouble with the thick mucus in my throat, this has been a problem for 30 yrs. Just finished antibiotics last month, turned into another infection. Seems to clear up and come right back. They say it’s sinus and allergies and I’ve been to the ear, nose and throat drs, and taken all kinds of meds with no relief over all these years. This is another part of my life that greatly interferes with my daily living and greatly affects heart surgeries and causes big problems. Anyone else have this problem?

Another problem I’m having is I can’t hardly walk without my legs giving completely out with weakness and pain and I have to sit down wherever I am. Thought it was my Fibromyagia but now thinking it has more to do with the way my heart is pumping and not getting enough blood down to my legs. It’s only getting worse. I guess time will tell after surgery. Hope I feel way better coming out of hospital than going in. Dont think I was this sick the last two times going in.

Wishing you the best of luck Blake, and I can relate to the allergies, sinus and throat issues. This has apparently been a tough year for allergies where I live, lots of pollens. I hope your allergy issues do not interfere with your recovery and your health rapidly improves after surgery.

Thank you Lynn. I tend to go into anxiety attacks with my chronic sinus, allergy issues which I will have to try and get control of, but it’s going to be hard. Thanks again.

Well I’m here in Plano, TX, been here since Monday. Surgery has been put off until Friday was supposed to be Thursday. Dr. wants all the fluid off my body before surgery. Also I’m going to be getting two pig valves for mitral and tricuspid instead of mechanical. He says going to be a big surgery. Surgeon thinks pig valve is best for me at age 58.

I'm a little late but read your thread. How are you feeling today?

Congrats on successfully making it to the other side! Glad that the clot was small. Please keep us posted as you recover.
