Thanks, @Seaton we should have an answer tomorrow. Unfortunately my husband’s mother died last night so I was not able to really be of much comfort. She will be cremated and we’ll have a service once the epidemic is over. This sucks.
Very sorry to hear that, @Duffey
Sending condolences and the very best to your husband.
Such difficult times.

been indoors for 2 weeks now...just going into the garden for a few hours for fresh air
doing a little work from home
been using my home gym alot...did another 10km this morning

aortic valve replacement that was due in the 1st half of this year, is ofcourse now postponed probably until next year

Im in the UK too and my surgery was meant to be about now but I can't get to speak with anyone about it. My GP has written to surgeon in hope of some kind of reply. However you say yours won't be until next year now. How do you feel about that. Have you been advised it can go that long? Im quite scared.

anyone else here struggling with being single. I hear a lot of people using the word we I'm assuming they have a family or their coupled up. Would love to hear from the single people.
I'm single ... my wife were she still here would probably freak at some of my current activities (if not my PPE selection ;-)

Hi
I've been advised my the cardiac specialist nurses that all no critical surgery has been cancelled (presumably until this pandemic is under control, and medical staff and facilities are freed up).
I'm guessing that wont be until v late this year.

At present even though the level of stenosis is classified as severe, I'm asymptomatic. In fact I'm feeling v healthy and fit at present. Hopefully I stay like this another year in the lead up to the op !

It's a scary time for all of us I agree. I'd just try and relax as much as possible and just concentrate on things you can control .

BTW. where about in the UK are you based? The people you should be in contact with with regards to your heart upcoming surgery in the NHS are the specialist cardiac nurses. You should have a contact number for them.

Your Scooter would get eaten alive by the potholes around here! Our seasonal freeze/thaws and penny wise, pound foolish road repair approach makes the birthplace of the affordable mass produced automobile home to some of the worst roads in the USA!

My wife would also point out that choice of activities is the reason single men, on average, don’t live as long as married men. To which I suggest, looks like a fair trade for a few years in a nursing home unable to enjoy myself. We won’t all end up champs into our 80’s like our good friend, dick0236!

Thank you and I hope you remain well and asymptomatic. I have some breathlessness ie can't walk as far but it has always been difficult to assess as I have quite bad arthritis in my legs so that pain stops me really testing it out. I feel quite well like you. I have been under surveillance because I had the CT scan ready for surgery and it showed a few other things up and they should be okay now. Then of course this.

I don't actually have a cardiac nurse because I was referred immediately to a surgeon initially; wong scan readings which meant I never got seen by a cardiologist Not quite sure how to contact now.

We've been at this "shelter in place" thing for quite a while already. My wife had to radically curtail her outside activities back around mid-December, when she developed shingles. In her case, the skin eruptions were not the bad part. She had debilitating nerve pain in several places, and just couldn't do anything. We have been pretty much at home since then.

Then, in early February, she had knee replacement surgery. That kept her in home recovery mode for weeks, and I couldn't wander far, because I was her helper/care giver at home. So, since December, I have been at home except for the one week each month when I work at the office.

This week is my "office" week. I am here (Monday morning) for part of the day. The rest of the week will be a mix of in-office and remote work to get the month's financials published. At least I don't have to be in the office all week, and there is almost nobody here -- just myself and my accounting manager.

I've gotten tired of TV - especially the constant dire news and updates. They seem to thrill in presenting everything in the darkest terms possible, and if there is nothing new to report, they just cut and paste previous news shows and show it again. I get it that this is serious, but do we need 5 channels of 24-hour news on the pandemic?

I've also become kind of burned out on reading. I've probably read over a dozen books (all fiction) in the last couple of weeks, but now, even that is becoming boring.

The one thing I've added to my days, for some contact and variety, is to return to my (very) old hobby of ham radio. Last week, on one of the nicer days, I was able to get out into the back yard and repair a damaged antenna. With snow on the ground, it was not accessible. Once fixed, I've been able to talk with hams in a couple of dozen states and some foreign countries. What is old, becomes new.

The one thing I miss is my exercise routine. Of course, all of the gyms and fitness centers are closed, as they should be. It is just that our weather hasn't been nice enough to do much outside, other than walking. I have tried to get out and walk a few miles most days, but it doesn't compare to a half hour of intense cardio activity, followed by another half hour on the weight machines.

We're here. We're fine, and hope everyone else is and remains so. This too, shall pass.

They rule with an iron fist and control information the same way. We have no way of knowing what their numbers are. Just what they tell us they are. China has stopped the spread or stopped sharing info?

Couldn’t help but notice North Korea has 0 cases. Perhaps Kim Jong-un’s style of leadership is something we could all benefit from?

We can all play Monday morning quarterback on this. Look at the mortality rates? A few days old. Is it driven by who’s testing? Quality of treatment? Where the illness is located?

North Korea executed a patient who tested positive for going outside his home...I live in Asia, lived in China---I can guarantee the #'s are much high both for death and total cases....the bastards caused this by slaughtering animals..Another reason I am glad I become Vegan 2 months ago...

I’m “social distancing” from my husband. He was exposed to an ICU patient who has been tested for Covid-19 but results aren’t back yet. The hospital’s infectious control nurse said we should maintain 6’ of distance, sleep in different rooms, use separate bathrooms. I’m upstairs, he’s downstairs, and the dog is so confused as to where he should sleep!

suits me ... its been a good run, happy to die in a nasty tangle rather than like the people I used to see daily in my work as a tech in Nurse Call and Duress alarm systems.
Something for your wife to read / watch on the actual reasons

I love Anton ... he's quite fun to watch / listen to

PS: Potholes: that's the reason I changed to this scooter:
