10 weeks post AVR op. I too had almost non stop coughing for about a month. Couldn't sleep , carry on a conversation or even leave the house for fear of going into a coughing spell that lasted for a half an hour or more. Docs said it would eventually go away and was probably because of plural effusion on the lungs. Continuous Xrays did show that the plural effusion was going away after a month or so. However adjusting the meds seemed to give some relief. After about 8 weeks coughing has subsided.
