I've not been on the truck but I'm trying to get it here in Thailand and hearing the same thing from doctors here they're worried about the side effects but my reasons for taking it are different than yours. I'm trying to lower my lipoprotein as I'm still pre-surgery and I believe that the lower I get on my lipoprotein the more I can slow down my heart and heart valve disease. I stop statins no problem and I've got a super low LDL of 51 due to my statins in my vegan diet

Diet is something I have tried but never able to go vegan. I went for like a year with no dairy (no ice cream), cutitng down chips and red meat but my cholesterol levels stayed the same or even went up. Finally I said eff it I want some ice cream!! And started enjoying that again. I'm already effed with high cholesterol in my arteries anyways and "died" from that 5 years ago. I should not even be alive right now after what I happened to me. So I rationalize it that way (this is all just bonus time). When I go I go. I have no desire to elongate my life unnaturally anyways, it is pretty shitty and mostly just misery and torture with worst job I've ever had in my life and no close friends around anymore anyway. I need to be able to enjoy some things I like to eat (cheese for example) or not worth even living. Do I want to kill myself? No. But not looking to alter my body god knows how by injecting **** just to stay on this planet a few more days if at all and risk adverse effects so bad that I cannot even function etc.

Amazingly the Dr's have not attempted to give me any diet recommendations, all they've done is push statins and now PCSK9 inhibitors.

It is loaded with fat-which damages the heart--do flax or chia

Absolute BS.

Show me the data.

EPA and DHA both are beneficial..

the process of your recommendation to convert ALA from chia is a very inefficient way to get omegas.

Stop spouting incorrect facts .
There is plenty data out there showing the benefits of omega 3

Your advice is to convert Chia into omega which is fat.
There is the paradox, you're going the long way around to make FAT.

These fats are essential, that is why they are called essential fatty acids.

Plant based is just as good if not better than animal based for the Omega 3 + animal based contains fats that damage the heart...You finished with the insults Leadhead ?)

You punks out there who want to keep pushing a high fat diet go right ahead...It ain't about being right it's about being smart.>Drop the nuts, seeds (except chia or flax)(, beer, wine, all alcohol, caffeine, avacados, animal products etc etc
Punks? Why because they disagree with you. Maybe you're right maybe they are dying recommendations seem to change all the time. So nuts are bad for you? Almonds walnuts etc? I can't have a beer or a cup of coffee? I thought that not all fat was created equal. So you're saying that even fish is bad for you?

Nuts – What about nuts? I hear so many different opinions?

Fish oil is not essential. Fish get their omega 3 from plants. It is difficult to be deficient in Omega 3 if eating 1-2 tablespoons of flax seed meal or chia seeds and green leafy vegetables at several meals. There is also research that suggests that those on plant based nutrition become highly efficient in their own manufacture of omega 3. Patients on fish oil are also at increased risk for bleeding, and studies now indicate they are of no benefit for heart disease patients.

As nuts are a rich source of saturated fats, my preference is no nuts for heart disease patients. That also eliminates peanuts and peanut butter even though peanuts are officially a legume. For those with established heart disease to add more saturated fat that is in nuts is inappropriate. For people with no heart disease who want to eat nuts and avocado and are able to achieve a cholesterol of 150 and LDL of 80 or under without cholesterol lowering drugs, some nuts and avocado are acceptable. Chestnuts are the one nut, very low in fat, it is ok to eat.

Seeds (sunflower, pumpkin, sesame, etc.) Are seeds ok to eat?

1 -2 tablespoons of ground flax seeds or chia seeds daily for omega 3 are appropriate for everyone to eat including heart patients, if they wish. Some seeds baked in bread or crackers is acceptable. Just don’t eat handfuls.
