It's official. We are moving into the waiting room. Sammy's records are being sent to UCLA to see if he is a candidate for this autologous pericardial leaflet extension. It's a valve sparing open heart procedure where they do a little "nip, tuck", turn the bicuspid into a tricuspid if possible, add the pericardial tissue to extend the leaflet to stem the regurgitation-- and potentially buy him some time before needing a full valve replacement and hopefully lessen the number of surgeries by at least one...

Anyone know anything about this procedure? have any experience with it? seen it done on kids?
