Hey there, just want to share that today marks my 5-year anniversary of my second OHS when my bicuspid aortic valve was replaced at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Thanksgiving has never been the same. You know how you make associations? Well, Thanksgiving week does that for me.

The last echo and check-up were good. So that's great, of course. But it sucks having the feeling that I know it's gonna deteriorate sooner or later. It's just a matter of time. Sometimes I feel like I'm living with a time bomb inside me, and I don't know when it's gonna go off.

But that is the wrong way to look at it because, as my wife tells me, the surgery SAVED my life, it did not ruin it. And so it's appropriate that it was done Thanksgiving week, for what could a person be more grateful for than life itself.

As always, thanks for the support and comfort that you deliver to so many. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
