20 days postop still on 02

I'm 20 days post open heart aortic valve replacement and still using 2.5% 02 at night and intermittently during the day for low 02 levels. I was in excellent shape preop and didn't expect this. Any comments will be appreciated.

Sorry to hear this. Duffey asked a good question. This information will help us better respond. I was in excellent shape pre-op and ended up with pleural effusions, collapsed lobe and breathing issues post op. In time, it resolved itself. Hope it does for you and the doctors are staying on top of this.

02 level with no 02 runs 86 to 91. Surgeon sent me home on the 02. I'll see him on the 15th. Today it's better as I'm doing deep breathing exercises as it gets to 90. Thank you.

I was on oxygen all the way up to surgery. Surgeon said it was too keep my lungs healthy and not put strain on heart. After surgery never had oxygen again. Never had a problem with my lungs since. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers Duffy.
