Today is the 12th anniversary of my aortic valve/aneurysm surgery. It was a 6 hour surgery and I now have a St Jude grafted aortic valve. I’ve had a few bumps along the way—lost the upper lobe of my right lung due to lung cancer (never smoked a day in my life) and 2 rounds of endocarditis. My cardiologist who everyone loves is leaving to teach at KCMU. But overall I’m feeling great and am very grateful for my ticking valve.

Congratulations! My cardio retired and the replacement is just as good or better.
