Good to know they'd still be ok. I still have them if anyone can use them.

Coaguchek XS strips VERY recently expired - can anyone use them?

Hi all, My mom passed away on 2/14/18 and she went off coumadin a few months before that (with her doctor's approval). I had a bunch of strips that I sent over to pellicle for his testing and just found some more as I was going through some things. Both containers have the chips for the...

Anyone want some free Coaguchheck XS strips unopened?

Thank you. For someone that was SO independant just a few years ago to being diagnosed with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (after ruling out parkinson's, ALS, and a host of other things) it's maddening to watch how she struggles. No speech, and muscles have tightened up so much she's almost in a...

Anyone want some free Coaguchheck XS strips unopened?

Hi all, After 35+ years on Coumadin, we've taken mom off it (with approval of her cardiologist). She has been on hospice since May and up until about 2 months ago things were ok with her coumadin with me doing weekly or 2x weekly testing and making small adjustments as needed to dosing (with...

    Antibiotic affect on INR

Hi all, Mom was in the hospital again for a week on antibiotics. Testing daily in the hospital had her in range with no issues and she's been home a week and I've tested her 3 times. Was 2.6 first time, then 2.5 and today 4.4!!! I'm obviously holding her dose tonite and will be testing again...

    Buying strips online

That's actually what I ended up doing. I guess with Roche it takes some time before they'll put you on auto-send (starts the end of June for mom and then every 70 days thereafter) so when I called and told them I needed more now (the last time they sent me a box of 6 was 2/11 but they also...

That's helpful, thanks! I'm just going to get 12 or 24 to keep on hand

    Buying strips online

If I wanted to buy some strips for our home meter online just to have in case I needed them before the company will send new ones, or say mom has to go on an antibiotic and I need to test more than once / week, what do you recommend for how long they "last"? I am seeing on eBay options for 48...

How far into range are you comfortable with?

Thanks for all the advice. We're staying where she's at dosage-wise. 2 weeks ago when she only had PT one day vs two, her reading went up to 2.3 and I thought that makes sense because she exercised less. Last week it was the same so maybe that theory is only roughly baked. Building a database of...

How far into range are you comfortable with?

Mom's been on ACT for almost 35 years but it's only in the last 2 months that we've gone to home testing on a weekly basis. Prior to that she was steady and her doctor had her get vein draws monthly. I never agreed with his methods but for the most part, she was in range I'd say 90+% of the...

How far into range are you comfortable with?

Random question... we're doing mom's testing at home now (thanks to the help of a bunch of nice folks here) and the last 3 Fridays she's been at 2.1 (2 - 3 is her target range). She takes 5mg every day except Tuesday and Thursday where she does 2.5mg. I'd like to see her a little more into the...

    Lancet size

Yeah when I do mom's, there's not that much left that hasn't been sucked up to cover the blue strip. We'll see how it goes tomorrow. To your point tho, at least I know how big I need to not waste a strip and I'll just jab her again (she loves me!) vs wasting a strip.

    Lancet size

SCORE!! Got the new "T" lancets from Roche yesterday (I jabbed myself and those suckers hurt - but I'm also a huge baby LOL!). Anyway, had mom sit her with her down wrapped in a hot washcloth, fired up the machine, when it was ready I wrapped the rubber band like in Pellicle's video, fire the...

I called Roche and they'll be sending me the coagu lancets as well as a new thing of strips. Should be here in time for next week's test

    Lancet size

Her fingers are cool to the touch to start but while I'm washing up and getting things ready she balls them up or puts them under her lap to get them super warm and when I feel them then, they're what I'd consider normal temp. But I figured the warm cloth would help as well. Her circulation...

    Lancet size

To cut to the chase, the point is (see what I did there? Lol!) she's not bleeding enough to form a useful sized drop of blood on the finger tip without a lot of squeezing over time which I know is not acceptable to do. No matter how firmly I press the tip of the pen down on the side of her...

    Lancet size

Doh! Didnt realize it posted the first time before I logged in. I've studied your video and it just doesn't seem to cut it (no pun intended) for mom. Since I'm dealing with a neurological issue and movement problems to start I want to make this as easy as possible. I just saw in the Roche...

    Lancet size

Hi all, New to home testing on mom and wasted a strip this week because of not enough blood. 3 sticks later (and got smart about not even trying to touch the strip until I knew it was enough) I got a decent drop of blood out of her. We let her hand hang down (she's in a wheelchair so can't do...

Finally set up with home monitoring

No the training was good, but when I went to "slide" the strip across mom's finger to get the blood on there, I was pressing to hard and it "skipped" over. Given mom's neurological condition her hands sometimes shake too so I learned I just have to have a firm hold on her finger.
