    Cardiac Catharsis...sigh

I am seeing my new cardiologist on next Wednesday....theoretically for a stress test but the last one a few weeks ago was cancelled due to BP and EKG. Although edema has been an issue for years, even before surgery, adding to my cardiac carnival, I have recently developed "leaky leg" syndrome...

    Five years ago today

In some ways seems eons ago...so much has happened. I am alive, blessed and thankful but very aware of the expectations I had for physical improvement post surgery have fallen short. Were they unrealistic ?? No marathons in mind , but there were hopes of being able to walking upstairs...

8 weeks post and I am an idiotl?

Hard to believe this much time has passed. I will confess I now feel am mixed when it comes to recovery. I was feeling pretty smug week 0-5 post op Still have significant swelling , primarily in left leg so I am back on lasix ( 40 mg once a day)) and potassium twice a day. My physical activity...

    Medication discontinued question

Lasix were reduced last week when I went to cardiologist (to once a day, no repeats ) Yesterday am was last lasix and potassium pill dose (also not repeated). Was noted on meds list for appt with surgeon and it didn't come up in review. My left leg now looks like a sausage, and it seems...

    Post op appt with surgeon

S'all good. Keep doing the good things, some restrictions in place for a bit longer. Told to stop doing the things I started doing too early (husband ratted me out) :biggrin2: . He advised there has been some heart damage due to "myocardial infarction and the prolonged critical hypertension."...

    Irony

After all the time spent here, reading , sharing, reassuring and be re-assured I am now more "spazzed" over 2 foster kittens, who are now officially ours as having possible diagnosis of ringworm ( which is a fungus NOT a parasite). Honestly, disliking this more than anything I have dealt with...

    Milestone

Will confess to feeling pleased. Surgery was 3 weeks ago today and I Walked 5 km in less than an hour, with inclines, gradients and only had to stop once just to double check heart rate. Before surgery, the first gradient I would have to stop at least twice to catch breath and/or due to pain...

from one BP extreme to the other

Well....not quite sure what to make of this. From being critically hypertensive pre-op to a BP @ discharge 138/90 to a current BP ranging from 80/80 to 106/77 HR is ok from 70-110 the last 2 days. I feel ok but just a tad off...not even sure how to describe it. Could be just my heart...

    Where things stand...

I think I am at the point where I can possibly add some objective insight to recent events and evaluate how things are going. Only because I finally had about 4 hours sleep...at one time. I am 9 days post op. and boy what a difference a day can make; The biggest adjustment was taking an Aleve...

Finally I meet the criteria for POST!!

I am now day 6 post op. Was discharged from hospital late last night ( discharge time 9 am is a LIE !!). I didn't post in hospital as I decided not to get internet and although I asked husband to update from home on my behalf after surgery I couldn't remember old password, having changed...

    all set for tomorrow

I am moving from the feeling surreal chairs to the WAY-TOO-REAL chairs. :eek2: Transfer to other hospital in an hour or so. Even when you have the head knowledge , and feel well informed etc it is a different sense when you think ' By this time tomorrow , hopefully will in recovery mode."...

sent hubby for hospital supplies. Ladies might relate more, not intended to be sexist

Due to rush and clearly not thinking what I was tossing in bag I realized I had forgotten some necessities. I recalled how it was common experience due to stress for nature to ah "show up". So... Ask hubby to visit the feminine hygiene aisle which he agreed to do without hesitation.Poor man was...

Officially moving out of waiting room

Date set for next Wednesday (may 21) to allow for more blood transfusions (daily) and perhaps get BP down as it will go up post-op. Confirmed by latest blood work, mechanical is not an option , cannot go on blood thinners , however as there will be a redo in the future to replace valve again...

    you never know ....

It has been a while, since I posted anything of significance about my heart journey as I had truly intended to follow up immediately last sept (2013) once back from a trip. I came back to find out that my father not in top form with what we thought were gallstones. Through tests and...

Still on chair in corner of waiting room.

Yep..still here. Been watching so many come and and settle in until their turn, reading forums incognito and offering silent prayers and best wishes.I feel like someone who goes to a coffee shop and asks for a "free" cup of water and reads all the newspapers other patrons have left behind...

    where to go from here

I haven't posted in a while as, to be frank, I have been frustrated with testing and results and thought a "step back" would give a new perspective. Still not sure where I am on my "heartroad" but I just received notification for further consult & stress testing @ Munk clinic. I am not sure...

    angiogram angst

Had angiogram on Friday and just got home. Was one of a very few that had a bump or two throughout the testing and I must confessed I am a tad (understatement) fed up. Please indulge my need to vent a wee bit as I had hoped this testing would get me to the point where something could be done...
