Migraine aura anyone? Or does the cheese stand alone?

Thank you for posting this @workmonkey I do hope some research is done on this as there are a number of forum members get these migraine auras following heart surgery. Keep well !

    Different strokes...

That's interesting because whenever I get an episode of double vision I immediately cover one eye and that stabilizes me or else I feel completely dizzy and unstable. My double vision is related to the migraine auras which I developed immediately post surgery.

    Moving to UK from India

I got a letter from my cardiac surgeon which says I should have antibiotic cover before any invasive dental work - the letter was for my GP so it's on my medical notes at the GP surgery, and I have an antibiotic prescription on my repeat medications list which I can request online any time I...

    Moving to UK from India

I think it might be important for you to register with a GP when you get to the UK. Read this about General Practitioners from an NHS website on how to access NHS services.... if you're planning to live and work in England, you need to register with a GP practice...

    Two failed TOE/TEE

When I had a TOE at the Royal Brompton, London, it was done under general anaesthetic. I hadn't asked for it to be done under general anaesthetic but was quite happy that way and I should think they're less likely to fail that way. It meant I was essentially a day patient though. Hope the next...

    Excited - surgery date confirmed

Hi Sandra - I do hope the surgeons will let you know the state of the valve, I should think they will be interested. Did a lot of calcification show on the transoesophageal echo ?

    Blood pressure home testing

Reading those Harvard Health new blood pressure guidelines I see they state: "The new guidelines stem from the 2017 results of the Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT), which studied more than 9,000 adults ages 50 and older who had systolic blood pressure (the top number in a...

    Blood pressure home testing

What you write about how what your thinking seemed to affect your blood pressure reminds me of a study I read some time back, I wish I’d kept a copy of it. It was done on some US airforce guys. On the first occasion they put an arm in a bucket of ice water which led to pain, and then their blood...

    Imminent re-operation of heart valve

Hi Sandra - welcome to the forum. I have some similarities to you though not quite the same. I had aortic valve replacement in January 2014 when I was 60. I too had a 19mm bovine valve, and my average gradient post surgery was 18, peak 36. Three years later in 2017 at my annual echo my average...

    1000mg Cod Liver Oil Capsules

Hi Mike - I'm doing okay thanks ! It will be ten years at the beginning of January and the valve is still going strong. I'll have my annual echo in February or March. The pressure gradients are high but it doesn't seem to affect the valve or my heart, they just indicate moderate patient...
