    Looking for pacemaker info

Thanks for the info on MAUDE. I will certainly check it out. I thought it was strange that I stayed on Eliquis during the procedure to implant the new pacemaker. I did not think to ask how this was possible. Glad to hear that a future replacement will not be a major issue.

    Looking for pacemaker info

Great info to have. Thanks! I have the exact Biotronic pace maker with the "OK" monitor. I learned today that it is operation 86% of the time in one chamber and 50% in the other so I guess it was really needed. I failed to ask why this make/model was selected but plan to ask at my next visit. Dr...

    Looking for pacemaker info

Hi Lynn... Never thought of a recall as being part of the risk. Going to follow your lead with a trip to the north west US in a few months. I am not brave enough to tackle Mexico.

    Looking for pacemaker info

I am glad the procedure went well. I hope you get some answers and fixes to your issues. Your medical team being lackadaisical has to be frustrating!

    Looking for pacemaker info

I had my checkup for the pacemaker to be checked out. Everything looked fine. I was surprised to learn that the cardiologist has a team that reviews pacemaker data every day on his patients. The software they use prioritizes the data reviewed based on issues reported by the pacemakers. We live...

    Looking for pacemaker info

Good info and no you did not hijack the thread. Looking forward to your updates and hope your procedure/recovery go well. I have found if I put the sling around my waist when I go to bed it prevents me from raising my arm at night (am very animated when I sleep). Thanks

    Looking for pacemaker info

I am on Eliquis and did not stop taking before or after surgery which I thought was strange. I was told not to lift over 5 pounds and to take it easy for at least two weeks until I have my follow up visit. Dr also preferred I take sponge baths for two weeks and leave bandage on as well. My wife...

    Looking for pacemaker info

I was warned not to raise my arm above my shoulder or I risked pulling the leads from the heart and having to redo the surgery. I have put my arm in a sling as you suggested. Unfortunately when in the bed it is hard to remember the instructions. I plan to try your strap method. I am curious if...

    Looking for pacemaker info

I am the proud owner of a new Biotronik pacemaker which was not planned for so I have a lot to learn. The Dual Chamber model communicates each night with a device the size of a small cell phone (Cardio Messenger) It downloads the day's heart activities which are then uploaded to my cardiologist...

Valve ok but something else, Amiodarone

I was on amiodarone for about a year until it started affecting my thyroid. You will need periodic blood tests to make sure it is not creating a problem. My doctor did not consider it a long term solution in my case. I had no side effects that I noticed from the drug. I hope you are doing well.

    Mitral Valve

Congratulations on the weight loss. Try to find a way to walk in cold weather even if you have to walk indoors. I have been down your path with Mitral Valve issues as well as popping Metformin ER. Stay well!

    Watchman Procedure

Met cardiologist this week and since everything is going well he did not recommend a watchman at this time. The fact that I have a porcine mitral valve and am on Eliquis is not a factor. I hope everyone is well.

    Amiodarone and tremors

Hi Eva, I was put on methimazole (5mg day) and was told to expect to be on it for several months. My TSH was negligible to start with and is slowly rising.

    Amiodarone and tremors

Well the tremors have gotten much better. Dr. thinks they will continue to improve with time. I had to go on a medicine to lower my THS which the Amiodarone was negatively effecting. Hopefully I will come off medicine in a few months.

    Watchman Procedure

Guys, Thanks for the info. I had a mitral valve replacement in 2020 (porcine) and am on Eliquis ( which is more expensive). My cardiologist strongly recommended I move from coumadin to Eliquis in early 2022. He did not mention any restrictions with regard to Watchman. I will let you know what...

    Watchman Procedure

I will be discussing the possibility of having the Watchman procedure in January with my cardiologist. This would allow me to get off blood thinners. Anyone else had this procedure? Thanks, Mickey
