    Coumadin 5mg availability in Australia

Mylan was the old manufacturer - new one is Viatris - I’m okay for a few months now but will definitely speak to my cardiologist about making the switch if supplies don’t free up by then.

    Coumadin 5mg availability in Australia

So I’m in Melbourne and talked to my chemist and apparently they’ve changed manufacturers - bottle now a bright blue container - no availability of the new 5s at the moment which is why there is a shortage.

    Coumadin 5mg availability in Australia

One year is impressive - I always keep some extra but after this will be even more careful 👍

    Coumadin 5mg availability in Australia

I‘d be lost without my strips - much better than regular visits to pathology 😊

    Coumadin 5mg availability in Australia

Thanks so much for that and for the picture of what it looks like. Very reassuring to know that I can get that as a substitute - I realise there may be variations in INR with the change but as I have been home testing for 14 years that doesn't concern me - once again this site and the wonderful...

    Coumadin 5mg availability in Australia

Hi all, Thanks for this very informative thread. There was an article in the Age (newspaper) on line this morning so I went out to my local chemist and was able to get their last bottle of 5 mg. Seems to be plenty of the 2 mg around so can just substitute that if needed. I was interested to...

Reinforcing the need for weekly testing

I’ve been home testing for 10 years and a couple of years ago was having problems with nose bleeds - one day I had a nose bleed that wouldn’t stop - fortunately my husband was available to drive me to hospital to get it cauterised. It turned out my INR was 5 for some unknown reason. Since then I...

    Your experience getting travel insurance?

Have you tried RACV? I’ve used them within Australia - have declared I’ve had a MVR on the online assessment with no problems - haven’t tried overseas insurance though

    nosebleeds, anyone?

I've been on warfarin for 7 years but just started getting bad nose bleeds a year ago. They would wake me up during the night and take at least half an hour to stop. I went to see a ear nose specialist and he cauterised the problem area and I've been fine ever since. Would recommend this if you...

    No more Alere InRatio2?????

Alere have sent me a letter to get signed by my doctor and then I have to forward it to them. It will be interesting to see if the replacement machine does arrive - I"ll update here when it does in case there are other Aussies out there with InRatio machines. I test weekly and do a lab draw...

    No more Alere InRatio2?????

Just found about this recall when I rang to order new strips. I talked to the Australian branch of Alere - they are emailing me a letter to get signed by my doctor and then sending me a CoaguChek Meter free of charge. I then have to return my old INR meter in the reply paid bag. I have been...

    Root Canal

I had to have a root canal two months after a Mitral Valve Replacement because my dentist missed the problem during my dental check up before surgery. I rang my surgeon and he said it would be fine as long as I was properly medicated with antibiotics. I has the root canal done with no problems...

Made it 9 years without a hitch...

I have had a colonoscopy and gastroscopy (2 different occasions) while on Warfarin with no troubles - doctor was very relaxed about it. Both were for routine check ups only so no polyp removal necessary.

    what's you target INR ?

I have a mitral mechanical valve and my target range is 2.5-3.5. I aim for 3 as I figure even if my meter reads high I will still be in a safe range. Have had no problems in 5 years so will continue to stay with this

    Ross Young

Five years ago before my Mitral Valve Replacement I arrived at this forum frightened and confused - Ross was one of the first to respond to me and immediately made me feel reassured. He may be gone but will never be forgotten.

    home nurse?

Hi, My husband took 3 weeks off work to care for me at home. He was surprised to find I really didn't need him at all - had no problems with showering or toileting and could even feed myself - just had to take things slowly. The only reason I ended up needing him around was to drive me places :-)
