    Second heart surgery; nervous

I had my first Heart surgery, all was fine and four years later, I learned I had developed bad mitral valve regurgitation and needed a second surgery. Like most, of course, I was nervous. Who wouldn't be? No one wants to face OHS and anyone who doesn't have some nerves about it is quite rare...

It's good to hear from you and learn your valve is doing fine. Sorry to hear your DH struggles so with dementia. It is so difficult seeing our loved ones suffer so and the load on the caregiver is exhausting. Only you can say the right answer for you and your DH. All best wishes as you make...

After released from hospital, if you had help, how long was helper off work?

My husband was a professional and not able to simply leave his office. We have a good friend who is a health care provider (what she does for work) and my husband made arrangements for her to be with me after both my OHS. After the first surgery, she came to help me for about a week. When I...

    Vitamin recommendations

Ask your surgeon. My surgeon was very specific about Rx and OTC medications he wanted me to stop at a particular time prior to surgery.. This is not a question for an internet forum but one for your surgeon and/or cardiologist.

Have you seen a Neurologist? A GP is not often well versed in neurological conditions as well as a specialist. I'd be seeing the neurologist, were it me. Best Wishes

Poss having issues with medication post surgery with....

It is good you are having neurological testing. Sounds possible there could be a neurological condition going on. At least it is a way to eliminate that if not the case. Best Wishes. Hope you get some relief soon. It doesn't take long to get results of an EMG test. Your primary care doctor...

How Soon After OHS Can One Typically & Safely Travel Out Of The Country?

My first OHS, my cardiologist and surgeon both cleared me to cruise at 10 weeks. I did not feel up to it and waited a bit longer. I had an uneventful, smooth recovery and when I cruised at about 14 weeks, I was tired and needed to rest from time to time but did fine. We had a cruise in...

Should I Decline a 50% Blocked LAD Bypass While Having AVR Surgery?

Have you asked your cardiologist for his/her opinion? Your surgeon and cardiologist both have an important role in your care and condition.

surgeon robbed me of my MV choice

No, I won't bother with that. I left before because of things you posted directed at me and I'll be gone again. I made a pledge to help others the way I had been helped here prior to and after my second OHS but you continue to make it unpleasant.. All best wishes to those facing surgery.

surgeon robbed me of my MV choice

It might be worth wondering where all the missing posters have left and why? Perhaps too many got too offended too often?

It is posts such as these and a number of others that drove so many former contributors and posters to this forum away. We got tired of these sort of comments. All best wishes ..... I'll disappear, Again. sigh...

Groin / chest Pain 3.5 weeks post heart catheterization / angiogram

Most of us have no discomfort following a cath. I have had two and both times, I never had any pain. I would have that checked if you are having pain these weeks later.
