Open Heart surgeries and Neurological problems

I am about 6 months post surgery. Memory used to be perfect but no longer the case.. Reaction and focus is bad too. Curious to know if you did a brain MRI after the first open heart?

Had mitral valve replaced 8 weeks ago. Curious and tempted to break some rules..

I wonder if I should move this thread to a different board to keep it relevant. LMK! I got a Svartpilen 401 now - it has the same frame as the Duck 390. It is such a fun bike and easy to control! It is tempting to get a liter bike as I started to find my 401 a bit slow. But there are 2...

    Foldax Continues

Got it thanks! I read in another post that you work in the valve industry. By any chance you know how I might find out the Foldax India trial size? That makes sense. I guess I should not overanalyze it and let time reveal the possibilities. It is hard but I will try :) That's a great attitude...

Excuse my grammar. This might be a case where the more I explain, the worse it gets 😂

9 Questions for Those with BioProsthetic (Tissue) Valves

Ha! I was thinking about a survey like this and you beat me to it. According to my cardiac team, one factor was whether the patient has coronary disease that makes their veins harder and/ or narrower. I asked from a mitral valve perspective but assume aortic valve should apply too.

It has the very classic look! I can see why it was hard to let go of that one especially you spent much time on the mods. I secretly want a Supersports S but it may be too powerful for me as a newbie. My Aprilia RS 660 arrived at the dealer this week though! What are you riding nowadays? Do you...

Numbness on both legs and arms during OHS recovery?

Thank you everyone for the input! The numbness is slightly less now. I did more lab work to rule out the really bad possibilities so at least it is nothing fatal but sleep deficit. Blood flow and blood circulation problem was one of the scenarios I brought up to my PCP. They did not think that...

    Foldax Continues

@Lucker @nobog Thank you for the links and the information! I compared the study types, timelines and sample sizes. It seems that the Edwards Resilia case was classified as high risk, Class III devices* because they needed the Pre-market approval. Their commercial trial was a 5 year IDE study...

Had mitral valve replaced 8 weeks ago. Curious and tempted to break some rules..

I ended up cancelling the trip to be safe😢 Just looked up what is a post hole lol. That seems intense for chest strength. Glad you did not crack your sternum digging it! Mine may take longer due to my genes. I had a 1 inch cut on my knee and it took the scar 10 years to turn light pink...

Lol @Zoltania, I hope I have 10+ years before perimenopause. But who knows, anything is possible at this point :(

Thank you @LondonAndy! I did more blood tests this weeks and my blood glucose level seems normal. Thankfully the night sweats start to reduce. I will get a glucose if it comes back though! Re the scar - Thanks for recommendations! Gonna try it in between the silicon sheet!

@pellicle What a collection you have (had)! Is that an older model of Ducati Supersport at the lower left? I try to live with the concept of calculated risks. Safety training is a good idea! There are a few classes I have in mind later this year. Enjoy life. And enjoy riding!

    Foldax Continues

I found out about polymer valve after having my first tissue valve. This can be a game changer especially for younger patients, myself included. I am trying to estimate how long it possibly takes Foldax for FDA approval. Please correct me if I am reading the articles wrong! Any help pointing me...

Numbness on both legs and arms during OHS recovery?

Hi! I would like to see if anyone had a similar experience and was able to find the cause(s)? 36F. No prior medical history. Only on baby aspirin and supplements. I had my mitral valve replaced 2 months ago with a tissue valve. About a month post surgery, I started to feel numbness on my left...

Hi @pellicle! You are one of the members I read so much about. Nice to e-meet you! And the Australian accent is somehow comforting. I am glad you had the mechanical valve at last and the scar will only get better. I imagine mine will look similar after my third OHS in 20 years. In terms of...

Had mitral valve replaced 8 weeks ago. Curious and tempted to break some rules..

Hello new friends, I joined the forum few weeks back and have been reading the posts here. It feels like I already know some of you :) I am 36F with no prior medical or family history. My PCP delayed my diagnose for 2 months then a bacterial blood infection turned into a vegetative...
