I will have my aortic valve replaced with a mechanical valve next week

In the US it depends on your insurance. Standard Medicare does cover meters. How much advantage plans or medigap plans pay depends on your insurance. My medigap plan covers my machine and supplies 100%. In my case, I have a plan F. I pay a monthly premium.

Anyone beside me having issues with the Cleveland Clinic? Cancelling my surgery

I'm sorry you decided on an advantage plan. They're not good if you have health problems. This of course is my opinion. I refuse to let an insurance company dictate my health care. I suggest you contact your state insurance commission. I've never heard of denial of this type of procedure. It...

For those who went to the Cleveland Clinic… did they do this to you?

The answer is, it depends. In a few states, they're not permitted to do underwriting. In the majority of states, one will have to go through underwriting. Everyone must have Medicare parts A & B. that's true for both Advantage and Medigap plans. The difference is advantage plans are...

For those who went to the Cleveland Clinic… did they do this to you?

A great reason to ditch the advantage plan and get a Medigap plan. The tough part is passing underwriting unless you live in one of the few states not allowing underwriting.

For those who went to the Cleveland Clinic… did they do this to you?

This makes no sense. I'm guessing you have a Medicare Advantage plan. CC must not be in network for your insurance. If that's the case, you'd be self pay. That would be ridiculous charges. It's open enrollment now. I suggest you find a different Advantage plan. Make sure your providers are in...

Anyone beside me having issues with the Cleveland Clinic? Cancelling my surgery

That's scary. You didn't say what insurance you have. I'm guessing you don't want to name them for fear of retribution. I'd appreciate who and what type of insurance. If you send me a message that's fine and I won't say anything. My company is trying to force us on their preferred plan. It's...

How long after symptom onset did you have surgery?

Mine was less than 10 days. In that time I'd been released from the ER/3 day admit. Next cardiac surgeon assessment appointment. Surgery scheduled. Preop appointment. Then off to surgery.

Cancel nonheart related procedure? How long a wait for Cleveland Clinic surgery dept. response?

I had OHS Jan 29, 2023. On May 30, I had full sedation when I got a shoulder replacement. My cardiologist had no issue with the sedation. YMMV, but that's how my doc handled it.

Lovenox for bridging with a Mechanical Valve

I had shoulder replacement surgery. I didn't find the Lovonox to be a problem. I'd taken it previously with knee replacements. I'd rather be safe than sorry. I don't see it being worse than wsrfarin.

Lovenox for bridging with a Mechanical Valve

The last 2 procedures I have had, I was required to bridge with Lovonox. ON-X valve

    Fluid in feet.

I had Flintstone feet for about 6 weeks post-op. I was way more concerned than my docs. They said after this surgery it takes time for your body to heal from the trauma from surgery. I had to take RX diuretics or those 6 weeks. One day, they were magically back to normal. Of course, talk to...

    New to forum

Welcome. True nobody wants to be here. The peeps here have been awesome with info. I'd go for a 2nd opinion. I get upset when a doctor dismisses my concerns. I hope you find a doc that takes your feelings into consideration.

    27 Years Today

Very cool to see. You must be doing many things right to allow your valve to last so long!

    NEWBIE

I'd love to be on island somewhere. The docs want me in town. We have zero public transportation. There is food delivery, etc. To me, the idea of being told I can't drive is tough. No real need to go. I just like knowing I'm able. The electric recliner saved me last night. I guess I did too...
