Moving to LA - cardiologist recs?

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve been on the board. Just had echo and everything looks good after my 2020 AVR. I know there are some members from Southern California on here. Anyone have a recommendation for a cardiologist in the LA area? Feel free to privately message me if you prefer...

    Any advice welcome

Hi Ricaldo, The waiting room is the hardest part. My biggest regret is that I didn't talk to a therapist. I couldn't escape my anxiety and gave myself some really bad heartburn and completely lost my appetite. Be kind to yourself and talk to a therapist. If you have a good friend or loved one...

    Two years!

My two year valve replacement anniversary was yesterday! It feels like it’s been much longer. Great echo report in January. Enjoying life a lot right now and looking forward to traveling more this year! Thank you to everyone on this forum for preparing me for surgery in 2020!

Missed a dose. What do you do?

I remember at CC I was told to avoid grapefruit juice. My first thought was “oh nooo” and then I remembered I didn’t drink grapefruit juice 😂. I was worried it meant I couldn’t have grapefruit anything. I don’t drink them regularly but when I crave the taste, I haven’t had any issues on inr with...

    COVID

The pandemic has certainly made me an anti-jeanser. All I want for Christmas are more sweatpants or anything with a drawstring or elastic :D.

    COVID

Also all for it. Having expired vaccines is deeply upsetting when thinking about all the people here who need boosters and the fact that so many people around the world need (and want) their first shot. I know someone who had multiple heart surgeries and went to Walgreens for a booster. They...

    COVID

Not sure. I know people who’ve gotten boosters very easily at CVS because they didn’t want to wait 8 months. They have pre-existing conditions like us and aren’t sure how immunocompromised they are. I’m sure people without any health issues at all have done the same. 8 months seems long. I...

Is life getting back to normal after Covid

    COVID

So glad you’re both fully recovered! Thank you for sharing this. I’ll be wearing my n95 for everything now. Wow those are rough symptoms and for so long! Especially for being vaccinated. I have been hearing about more and more breakthrough cases from friends and family. So scary. I didn’t go to...

How get used to permanent metal click after aortic valve replacement

My pulse is much more regular after surgery so I’ve become more aware of it. I would be more aware of it now no matter what valve I chose. Before surgery, it seemed like my heart would beat once every 20 seconds. Love having a steady pulse now. It’s now like the pulse of my friends and my mom...

    Monsters in the attic

Hi, @Captain Cavemen! I went back and forth between resilia and on-x. I chose on-x and am happy I did as I’ve had no issues with it. Another reason I’m happy with it is because it’s so much better than my native valve. I was asymptomatic before surgery but my blood pressure and pulse were pretty...

    countdown to cleveland

Yep I took it too for years then was told I didn’t need to. In last couple years, cardio said I should take it again. Surgeon at Cleveland Clinic felt pretty strongly about taking it with BAV and taking it after surgery as well.
