On- X valve is superior to outdated one like st jude and ATS

I applaud “dose the diet” not diet the dose. Anticoagulation may take a while to adjust to, however being on it since 1999 everything has gone well. It’s a good thing to get your own test machine if possible. good luck.

    How time flies!

As I remember, the worst was prior to the surgery itself. I can’t recall the number of times the surgery was cancelled including the day I was pre-sedated. Following surgery everything proceeded as per expectations although I thought a little slow. I’ve been fine ever since. no strokes or...

How much Warfarin Amount do you take?

Don’t I just hate it when an anti-coagulant is referred to as “blood thinner”. It’s very confusing. Does the new doc mean anti-platelet or warfarin? Thanks Tom in Mo I agree totally with you.

    Lab vs Home Test

Not sure, too long ago, but I thought the “S” and the “XS” both took the same strips. Based on my experience with the “S”, I’d be surprised if any were still in service. Not sure what to make of the newer model and I’d totally forgotten what “S” Looked like just remembering it was big, bulky...

    Lab vs Home Test

No, I didn’t realize John Cameron Swayze was related to Patrick. Small world. Now I wonder if he can dance, too. My Coaguchek S stopped working while in warranty and would have been replaced free of charge with another S. The XS was just released to the market, had been recommended to me so I...

    Lab vs Home Test

Good morning , i just noticed this post now. So there was a time your XS gave a test result significantly different from the lab. I had thought XS, if broken, wouldn’t test at all. What is meant by “died”. I’m asking because my XS has been in use since 2006. Last week XS was dropped to the...

How much Warfarin Amount do you take?

that is very surprising because warfarin usually comes on 1, 5 and 10 mgs. tablets. Maybe you could ask druggist about what’s available In your area.

    Revisiting Post of Home Monitoring

I’m Canadian, bought my first Coaguchek S in 2004, replaced it with Coaguchek XS two years later and have self tested weekly since then. Those machines were bought outright. The S from a pharmacy, the XS bought directly from Roche when S broke down while under warranty. Doesn’t Roche sell...

    Clicking sound of mechanical valve

That’s exactly how I remember it. I found the clicks very soothing at bed-time and could take my pulse while listening. Not everyone feels this way.

    Clicking sound of mechanical valve

St. Jude valve received January, 1999.

    Clicking sound of mechanical valve

My St. Jude was audible when first received diminishing over time. I occasionally hear it now and the individual clicks are not so distinct (precise). All well though.

How much Warfarin Amount do you take?

Interesting! This is the first time I’ve learned 2.5 mg tablets existed. If you don’t mind being asked what is the brand name?
