Agreed and understood Chuck. Luckily in Thailand they call LPA in the proper unit measurement therefore I don't have to do any complicated multiplication.

    Lipoprotein(a) | Lp(a) test

I've never heard of that I've heard the opposite that high amounts of niacin can lower your LPA score

    Lipoprotein(a) | Lp(a) test

I read this as well this study just came out in 2024 it's making me increasingly nervous about getting a tissue valve because I've got triple the Baseline level for somebody with problematic lipoprotein. I'm a traditional tricuspid valve guy yet my valve started becoming highly degraded as soon...

    Lipoprotein(a) | Lp(a) test

Unfortunately I've learned not to trust even the best doctors. I've got studies as recently as this year that indicate elevated lipoprotein not only degrades tissue valves faster but also degrades your cardiac system in its entirety: the heart the valves and all the arteries.

Understood I just go by the base level number whatever it is the lower number mine went from 88 to 89 over the last four and a half years I'm not expecting any kind of a drop unless I go on PC ks9 like you have. Hope I'm not hijacking the thread the good thing is my ldls are down to 53 due to...

Not to be cosmetic but we all hate the longer incisions why do they do longer ones each time if you don't mind me asking?

Interesting. I think we all want the smallest incision but sometimes it's not medically advised and it does give the doctor restricted access to your heart. It's sort of like opening up the hood of a car only part way when fixing something in the engine of your car

    Lipoprotein(a) | Lp(a) test

Chuck. Interesting about EPA I never heard anything about that what about niacin 500 mg? I didn't know that 2025 was a potential Target date for release of therapeutic drugs. I'm currently sitting at 89. My calcification scores are in the thousands. I'm surprised I'm not dead. That's great...

Testosterone - A question for those men on warfarin

Do any of the men on warfarin know if testosterone is contraindicated for those of you on warfarin? I am considering mechanical and started androgel 5mg a day 2 months ago. The benefits are great. My T was subclinical low about 170. Thanks in advance gentleman! PS--I saw a Dr yesterday but...

Thanks. Sorry about my endless replies. My surgery got canceled is because my doctor and I had a disagreement relating to the incision I'm trying to get him to do a smaller one either he doesn't think it's a good idea where he's not capable it's just weird cuz he's a senior surgeon. I should be...

Good evening and nice to meet you sir. I'm sorry to hear about your dilemma. I became aware of LPA through Chuck who's been a tremendous resource for me. I had it tested in late 2019 it was very high just had it checked again today. I did doubt the number has changed but I want to check it out...

    Different strokes...

I think Chuck might be referring to a link that I sent him or he found out on his own regardless I found a link also for 2024 that showed definitively that bio prosthetic valves where our quicker for people who have elevated levels of lipoprotein. Even though I don't want to go down the...

I didn't realize that bio valves could degrade quickly. Never heard that. Interesting. Even quicker than your native valve? Thanks Chuck

    Different strokes...

Get it checked out. I'm not a bicuspid but I'm a normal tricuspid.. my valve started calcifying in my 40s but nobody said anything until I was in my fifties I had to go through old documentation. My calcification numbers are through the roof like in the thousands I got them checked out a week or...

That's the valve I'm thinking about going with myself. How old were you when you got it implanted? I'm 61 myself and I found some studies that showed people like me with high LPA or lipoprotein will have increased SVD and a shorter life if I go down the bio prosthetic valve route. Of course in...

My surgery was cancelled 3 days before I was to enter the hospital.

My surgery was cancelled 3 days before I was to enter the hospital. No reason was given. The hospital did not say anything about a rescheduled date or refferring me to another surgeon. I am looking at other hospitals. I gave up on them. Shocking but it's Asia--wild west/wild east.
