Is it possible to travel internationally for six months of the year while on Warfarin?

Calling us sick bastards will not help. I understand that you're " not doing surgery and you wish to die " So why keep asking inane questions. You dont want a mech valve ( you've stated this numerous times ) so why discuss ACT ? It's pointless. Why are you here ? Go away

    Lovenox tips and tricks?

@jeffp . I found once the needle is in it's far less painful if you inject the content very slowly as opposed to just pressing it all in quickly ( big difference ) its more a sting than pain. Don't inject the same site either , move around a little & you should 'not' rub the area after you've...

New member: 56 yo facing unexpected AVR before the end of the year

Hey, at 56 it's a more nuanced decision on valve type. You say he's BAV, has the surgeon told you of the increased chance with bav for aortic aneurysm? This is worth noting because of any future potential surgery. Welcome and good luck 👍

    Surgery this Friday

Postoperative Tachycardia is common following OHS. Your 100bpm on leaving hospital seems reasonable. 130bpm seems a little high. Are you taking a Beta Blocker and is the heart rhythm regular?

    Surgery this Friday

I would suggest taking your HR manually to compare the rate over a minute. The smart devices can often show errors. 130 bpm at rest is high Its worth the comparison.

Targets ... where do you shoot (and why)?

I aim at 3.0, ST jude AV I generally try not to alter my dose unless my data shows a definite trend. I'll then titrate accordingly. To use Dick's quote ? : A steady hand on the tiller is needed.

    Pre Surgery and Work

Dave, not for the first time I might add; I'm perplexed by your post... Here #33 you say : " Tavr..not a candidate " ( I infer from this you mean you are not a candidate? ) In post #34 you go on to ponder that you'll pay for TAVR in your redo, can you see the paradox ? You do realise that if...

Doctor has given me a timeframe for the first time for surgery but it appears I have fallen into severe range..please see echos below and my post

You may not be a candidate. This information you seem to either not fully understand or you're ignoring it.

Doctor has given me a timeframe for the first time for surgery but it appears I have fallen into severe range..please see echos below and my post

@newarrior Hey Dave, are you aware TAVR is valve type specific. Not everyone can have this procedure once / or if your bio valve has SVD. You need clarification on your specific situation & valve choice. Remember we are dealing with facts here and not blind optimism. I would urge you to...

Rising dose of warfarin, but INR stays the same - hard to get it above 2.2

As per the others : 10mg is normal, nothing exceptional at all. I'm ~15mg , I'm not a big guy it's just my metabolism. The explanation offered by Chuck is bang on the money.

Weight lifting with valve and aneurysm replacement

Hey, we instinctively know if its too much, by your own admission you know at times its too much. The smart person would live to lift another day, Ego and stubbornness are sometimes unhelpful. Be smart, dial back when you think your Ego is taking over, remember you're in charge. Lift, but be...

    My AVR OHS Experience

@Timmay , my head rocked too for a while, it does settle down though just give it time, the thumping may stay with you, its worse if you inhale deeply. You will get used to it, and it should fade with time, however it may be your new normal. Happy onward journey
