Ten years ago for my tissue valve.

Ten years ago yesterday, I had my aortic valve replaced with a tissue valve. It's hardly a blip on my radar anymore and still going strong. Very thankful because since then I've celebrated many life events like a grandson. Thank God.

    5 years ago today!

Can't believe its been 5 years already since my AVR. Saw the doc the other day and he would not order an echo of my heart for the third year because I feel so good. He said it isn't necessary. I can't remember when I even had a palpitation. I have been lazy lately but still run 5K's and lift in...

She has no blockages so a mini seems to be in order. She also gets chemo for lung cancer via a port. She recently had her...

It is hard to believe it has been a year already. I think the very first thing I have to say is how much I appreciate all the threads and help I received on this web site. Everyone here is an inspiration. I want to say how this experience gives you a new outlook on life. You realize who your...

    Aortic Bypass Surgery

Interestingly I just read about aortic bypass surgery. That looks like something that has been done in the past on high risk older patients. I wonder why this has not been developed? Has anyone had any experience with it?

Do you have a tissue valve?

I had AVR 10/24/2012 with a tissue valve @ 55 years old. Just curious to hear from fellow tissue valves and if you know tissue valve recipients how long you have had your valve and how old you were. I know I will probably need to get mine replaced some day. Survival rates say that people with...
