    GYM and Weight Loss

2.1 this morning. Its going the right way, but again, 15mg last night. I'm taking Pellicle's advise, going back to 14.5mg, and checking again on Wednesday. Like everyone on ACT, I've had ups and downs ranging from .5 to .8 variations at times. This constant downward trend to 1.3 was pretty...

    GYM and Weight Loss

No, I take my Coumadin (have been taking brand name Coumadin, says Coumadin/Warfarin Sodium tablets since AVR) at 5 pm daily. I'm going to check my meter on Monday as its been 8 months since last comparison with lab and its 3 + years old. Testing INR tomorrow, hoping for 2.0 or better.

    GYM and Weight Loss

Hello again, I don't post very often anymore as it’s been 3 + years since AVR and life is busy again with new grandchildren and my wife's health issues (Stage 4 COPD). I was dealing with some scary shortness of breath and balance issues that made me uneasy at times. I was overweight and frankly...

Why is Pradaxa's INR range (2.0-2.5) not acceptable for mechanical valves?

I read the that the INR range for the new ACT drugs is 1.5 -2.0 or 2.0-2.5. Why are the mechanical valves so different if the INR's are in the same range?

    ED and Coumadin

Excuse me ladies. Ok guys this is something I have been wondering about for the last year and a half. Having been on ACT for 3+ years now, the bedroom has gotten progressively worse. At 64 I'm not ready to throw in the towel yet! I've always had a suspicion that the amount of Coumadin I take...

    Should have had stiches.

Well four days ago I was in the garage working on my old truck repairing some rusted panels on the floor boards. The cut off saw went zing and my finger some how got in the way. Boy leather gloves are no match for a good cut off saw. Anyway it caught my right index finger right at the first...

    Problems With sinusitis and Polyps

Living in paradise (Pensacola Florida) has its drawbacks for some of us as I have found out. My sinuses have been giving me fits the last couple of years and now per CT scan and MRI they are badly inflamed with large polyps in the left side. ENT doctor had me try prednisone and levequine last...

    Svt

Yes I could be just watching TV and suddenly my HR would hit 145 bpm. I was lucky for the first 20 years as I was able to rub my carotid artery and take slow breaths in and it would stop in less than a minute usually. When it was getting to be 10 or more episodes a week they decided to let me...

    Svt

AmyR, I had Svt, I guess most of my life, and it really wasn't a problem till I was in my 40's. I had ablation at the Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA. in 1998 and haven't had a recurrence since. I was I think very lucky however, that there was a Electrophysiologist from John Hopkins teaching...

    Lovenox Injections

This is another new experience for me in my Valve Replacement life. I went to the ER yesterday as I have been having some troubling symptoms that I think might be either an infection or maybe the mitral valve is going bad now (as it was showing mild leakage before the AV replacement, but cardio...

    Endocarditis ?

I was treated for Lyme disease by my PCP as we have a dog and sometimes we have found a tick on him every now and then even with all the tick spray and collars we use. She prescribed the 10 day Doxicillian course and it didn't help any of the symptoms, but like you said, it sure sounded like Lyme.

    Endocarditis ?

Have any of you that had the misfortune of having endocarditis, that didn't show the classic symptoms of infection i.e. elevated white blood count and fever? I had been experiencing some weird symptoms for the last couple of months and the PCP has ruled out infection. I have been having constant...

warfarin (coumadine / marevan) and the modern world

I have been on Coumadin since the surgery (15months) and recently bought a 90 day supply of warfarin (Tero I believe) to see if it was comparable for me and didn't change my INR dosage that drastically. It is considerably cheaper than Coumadin and if my prescription benefits change when I reach...

    15 Months and Questions?

For you seasoned AVR members (60+) At 15 months after AVR I’m noticing some shortness of breath, especially working outside in the high humidity and temps (Florida). I have been moving some trees around the yard (fairly big trees 10-15 ft. high) this week and I can’t dig or pick ax around...

    Bruising

Lately my INR has crept up and I have started to bruise pretty easily. I was at 80 mg a week for the last couple of months, and my INR was 2.3 – 2.7. Now it has shot up to 3.5 3.9 and I have a lot of small bruises on my legs and sides. I have gone back to restoring my Old Maverick. And that...

    chelation therapy

The NIH recently posted an article in the Physicians Watch that showed at least modest benefits from chelation therapy. The conclusion was that it warrants further study. Here is the link http://cardiology.jwatch.org/cgi/content/full/2013/424/2
