Experts: Is cholesterol calculated differently now ?

I'm pretty frustrated gang. So I have my upcoming annual Echo/Cardiologist appointment next week and I had to have bloodwork done leading up to it. I had it done Thursday, and received a copy of the results on Friday. Not only am I not happy with the numbers as I have been watching my diet and...

CT Scan w/Contrast or Echo....which is to be believed? More Accurate?

Hi forum, it's been awhile. I have a question. Since 2012 I have had what was said to be a stable aortic root at 4.1.... I take 50mg of Metoprolol which keeps the Blood Pressure in check. After having 5 consecutive annual ECHO's which have all ranged from 3.8 to 4.1 on the root measurement, my...

Please tell me about some coping strategies you use or used to deal with heart issues

Could be either pre-op or post op.... But what were some strategies or coping skills, or things you did to relax leading up to tests, results, changes in meds, procedures...etc.. With my doctor now calling my "situation" an aneurysm, I am going outta my mind here. I don't know if I should say...

First Echo in 2.5 years tomorrow a.m. ....kinda nervous/excited

Hey gang, My apologies for laying low for so long. I have been trying to forget about my "heart problem" for the last couple years. The short version is 7 years ago, an incidental finding on an ECHO showed a 3.8/3.9 Aortic root, 2.3 Aortic Valve Area, with a mis-shaped tricuspid aortic valve...

First Echo in 18 months is tomorrow....how to calm down advice?

Hey gang, I disappeared for awhile.... was heart obsessed and had to take a break (as you know, lots of yucky and untrue stuff in internet land.) I have been putting it off.... but tomorrow I have my first ECHO/Cardio appt. in 18 months. The Cardiologist, knowing that I am wacko.... is going to...

How do you guys live in the "in between" doctors visits --- WARNING: Long Winded

How do you guys live in the "in between" doctors visits --- WARNING: Long Winded Note: I am certifiably nuts, so if you think the questions I am going to ask is going to make sense or be short...or that I will get to the point in a reasonable amount of time, I encourage you to hit the back...

How often would you follow up if you were me ????

I am getting ready to start a new job in about 8 weeks, I am wondering if I should just do a follow up appointment soon to get it over with as I don't know what my new work schedule will look like yet. At my last appointment & Echo December 2011, here was what was determined: Male, 34 years...

Am I putting too much thought into this "murmur" or should I be cautious?

Last echo/followup in December of 2011 was the first time in my life anyone (doctor, nurse, cardio, etc) had ever said they detected a "murmur." Upon this finding.....an immediate echo was performed on the spot with the cardiologist sitting in watching the screen. His finding both in person...

My latest Echocardiogram ------- What do these numbers tell you guys??

Some of you may remember me from a few years back, I was the anxiety ridden guy that thought the sky was going to fall any minute. Since then, I have my anxiety and nerves 90% under control, and after hanging around here and reading all of your stories, and seeing how well many of you are...

Pretty Darn Good News (I think) at my Appt./Echo the other day....with 1 issue though

June 2009 I had my first ECHO after I had a panic attack, and a gamut of tests was ordered. On that first echo, it showed that I had a possible BAV, and an Aortic Root of 3.4….. No leak, no stenosis. New Cardio enters the picture...as the last one moved to a Columbus, OH hospital……Echo #2...
