On- X valve is superior to outdated one like st jude and ATS

I don't remember exactly, but know it was low because the doctor noted that we needed to remember that my body cleared the excess Warfarin really fast. I still drop like a rock when I hold a dose, and typically holding two doses will put me at 1.0, no matter how high I was. I don't recall when...

On- X valve is superior to outdated one like st jude and ATS

I believe 6.7 +/- 3.3 days means that 68% of people experience the effect anywhere from 3.4 days to 10 days.

On- X valve is superior to outdated one like st jude and ATS

When I first had surgery in 1998, mine was measured by PT. I don't remember what the goal was, but I do remember getting a call from my Cardiologist around 6-6:30 on a Saturday morning asking if I was bleeding anywhere in/on my body. After assuring him that I wasn't, he told me that my PT was...

    Bloating

Not really because most of the people who think they want that have no idea what Canadian or British or French or.... healthcare is really like. A woman I work with had a baby in England about 7 years ago and was in a ward with 7 other women. That doesn't even happen at the charity hospitals...

    It was the Cinnamon...

I've never found anything I eat or drink to interact with Warfarin except if I'm on vacation and drink more alcohol than usual. When I'm going to be drinking more than usual, I stick with Bloody Marys made with V-8 to balance the alcohol against the vegetables!

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

I've done those same tests. For years I thought that everybody saw two!

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

You mentioned a muscle problem that caused vision issues and dizziness. That's what the prism is for. I'm not certain when the current form first was used, but they've been around in some form since at least the early 1900s. There is a temporary prism lens that can be stuck on glasses called the...

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

Just like the rest of the developed world, Australia has prism lenses. https://www.microprismvision.com.au/eyewear/prism-prescription-glasses/

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

This is very interesting. About 3 months after surgery, I had an episode of double vision that lasted maybe 5 minutes. It would happen again sporadically so I mentioned it to my Cardio and he said it could be TIAs and no big deal. Some years later, I was referred to a neuro-ophthalmologist...

    Question regarding life on anti-coagulants

When I had surgery in 1998, one of the rules they sent me home with was to use an electric razor to shave. I got one, but within a few months, it ended up in the bottom of the bathroom drawer, never to be seen again until we moved 13 years later. Any woman will tell you they just don't work...

Question for US members about legal support for getting home if disabling stroke occurs after TAVar or SAVR

I know we've gone a bit off topic and this isn't a mental health forum, but the following states have established a Psychiatric Advanced Directive statute: Arizona Hawaii Idaho Illinois Kentucky Louisiana Maine Maryland Michigan Minnesota Montana New Mexico North Carolina Oregon Ohio Oklahoma...

Question for US members about legal support for getting home if disabling stroke occurs after TAVar or SAVR

You're correct, which is why I began my post with, "Every state is different, but in Texas,"

Question for US members about legal support for getting home if disabling stroke occurs after TAVar or SAVR

Because you should go ahead and get it while you're getting the others. They're all good until you say they're not. If you don't have it if you ever need it, your family will have to go to court to get guardianship or you will become a ward of the state.

Question for US members about legal support for getting home if disabling stroke occurs after TAVar or SAVR

Every state is different, but in Texas, there are at least 6 forms that you should have: Durable Power of Attorney (mostly financial stuff) Medical Power of Attorney Medical Directive In hospital DNR Out of hospital DNR And the 6th one that most people don't know about is a Psychiatric Advance...

Question for US members about legal support for getting home if disabling stroke occurs after TAVar or SAVR

It is unrealistic to think that if you have a stroke and aren't able to take care of your daily needs, either because of physical or mental deficits, they are going to send you home without someone there to take care of you. There aren't enough pieces of paper in the world for a physician or...

    38/M - 5.5 weeks post AV/Root Replacment (Surgeon Selection, Recovery & Pericarditis)

Not very often anymore, maybe once or twice q year, and when I feel it coming on, I take medicine immediately that knocks it out. The first round of colchicine didn't completely put it into remission, but it did slow it down immensely.

You might want to correct the first link and perhaps the email address. I believe both are missing an e that the second link has.

    Not doing surgery

I've always heard that if someone wants to commit suicide, they're going to do it quietly so no one can stop them. If someone says they're going to do it, or want to die, it's a cry for attention. Perhaps this person really needs an outlet. Perhaps the person is being enabled by being allowed...
