Valve No 2 .... Make That No 3

Wow, Larry. What an experience. So very glad things worked out well in the end. Thank you for the write-up and detail. Always appreciated. I send you the best for the recovery days ahead and beyond.

    Cath call ...

Hi Anne (@Paleowoman) I’ve read they get a more detailed view of things via cardiac cath than CT angio. And this from the Cleveland Clinic: So appears a coronary angio is still the gold standard procedure. 🙂

    Cath call ...

The Houses of Parliament this morning as I walked over Westminster Bridge to St Thomas’ Hospital opposite. Was a beautiful sunny spring day. Arrived on the ward early morning, just after nine. I was allowed a light breakfast as long as it was eaten before 6 AM. But I never ate anything and...

    Cath call ...

Call from the hospital. Catherisation booked for Thursday - 16th May. Not sure if through groin or wrist. Once completed, suspect a date for surgery will follow quite quickly.

Where is The Order Of The Tawdry Shirt forum ?

Hadn’t realised there was such a ‘forum’. Great stuff. Pity many of the images are now missing. But good to know it’s there and can be added to. Should be a breeze to add new images now that the website is so easy to navigate and looking so good. Would be great to have it included in the Forum...

    It Just Got Real

Aha! Brilliant advice, Anne. Gratefully received 👌🏼 I did glance at some slippers the other day and thought, maybe I should. I think now I will! And tracky bottoms and buttoned top for daytime and ward walks. Now on my list. Will source them this week hopefully. Add to my ‘overnight’ bag. Any...

    It Just Got Real

Hello @harrietW ! Fantastic to see you back here. Like Anne @Paleowoman I’d been wondering how things have been for you this past year or so. Thank you greatly for your generous comment and advice. Really sorry to hear of your continuing issues. Glad there has been a touch of recovery since...

    It Just Got Real

Hi Donna ... sorry to hear you’re still not feeling too good and shortness of breath continues to be an issue. I think skipping the airshow was probably wise, all things considered. And I hope your anxiety lessens as the days pass. 20 days or so probably seems infinitely long in the build up...

    It Just Got Real

Thank you for the comment, @Duffey ... Mary! Your wisdom on such matters deeply appreciated. My bags are metaphorically being packed ... prepping for the big day. Having said that, so far all I’ve managed is a pair of new PJs I casually bought the other day. I don’t think I’ve worn pyjamas...

    It Just Got Real

Quick indeed, Donna! You’ll be done before me, it seems. I’ve still no scheduled cath as yet and have been told AVR surgery may be a few extra weeks after what I was initially told – I was told within eight weeks. Which for me would have been late May or early June. But may be a tad longer now...

    Ferritin Levels Low

Correction: Not an infusion of ferritin but an infusion of iron in the form of ferric carboxymaltose, an iron carbohydrate compound. Ferric carboxymaltose (Ferinject) is for iron-deficiency anaemia Ferritin is actually a universal intracellular protein that stores iron and releases it in a...

    Edwards Resilia Inspiris Aortic Valve

Mr Christopher Young. An excellent surgeon by all accounts and an extremely friendly person to discuss procedure with. He explained a great deal and answered any questions I had with empathy and forthright clarity! Hahaha ... it is now on my list 👍🏼 Thank you. A good comfy cushion to cushion...

    Edwards Resilia Inspiris Aortic Valve

Brilliant to read this @tidespring82. My hospital, different surgeon but similar circumstances. I’m currently pre-surgery. Getting reading for bicuspid replacement in a few months’ time or so. By mini-sternotomy. Did he do a full sternotomy to put your Inspiris valve in place? Great it all...

    Ferritin Levels Low

I have an iron deficiency. My ferritin levels are low, apparently. My body is not storing enough iron, it seems. It’s important iron levels are steady for major surgery due to blood loss. And especially if a blood transfusion is required at any point. I’ve been given a pre-operative anaemia...
