Anyone had 3 valve replacement surgeries?

I know! Right? All showed up on my angiogram on Tuesday.

Anyone had 3 valve replacement surgeries?

Good info! Thanks! I saw my wires during my angiogram yesterday. (which came out clear and free of any vein or artery narrowings or obstructions!) I have 10! Seems like a lot. No?

Anyone had 3 valve replacement surgeries?

Great info on St. Jude! I'm assuming that goes for SJRegent and SJMasters from what I've been researching. I'll add them to my top 3 choices. Thanks for your wisdom pellicle!

Anyone had 3 valve replacement surgeries?

Hello, So met with cardiologist, following CT scan, and TAVR surgeon and we agreed that TAVR will be very LOW on my list of choices. I have bovine 23mm valve and patient mismatch would be the result of a TAVR. I'm planning on a mechanical SAVR. Most likely a Medtronic Open Pivot Standard (ATS)...

Great News! I'm sure this is what you were looking forward to! (The recovery side!) :)

    3 potential choices

I'm going with Medtronic ATS Open-Pivot mechanical and SAVR. Pellicle posted some great research! When its time, its time. Mine is coming up soon too! Very similar circumstances as you. Godspeed!

    4th procedure

    Prayers! Godspeed your recovery!

    Fourth surgery anyone?

Praying for you and yours!!! One artificial valve verses two decision might be due to amount of red blood cells damaged during heart pumping. The bovine valve won't tear red blood cells. Thus reducing stroke risk. But I agree with the logic of getting two since you are already on Warfarin...

Anyone had 3 valve replacement surgeries?

Any one else have a 3rd OHS valve replacement on the horizon? The last post was mid 2023. Thanks!!! :)

I have had 2 valve replacements within the past 3 years I just want to know if someone is having the same problems as me

I found out that one of my upper ribs, near my spine, was dislocated about 2 years after my second AVR. My Physical Therapist finally caught it after lots of neck and back pain issues. He popped it back into place, and I am healed. I pray your sternum pain is relieved!

    New(ish) Member Post 4 AVR's (2 Tissue + 2 mech) and 5 Sternotomies later......

Wow! I thought having 2 AVR surgeries (one porcine 9 yrs, current bovine 7 yrs) was a lot. God must have plans still for us. Thanks so much for sharing! I really needed to hear it! Godspeed recovery! 👍😊

Can doctors insert a larger Mechanical valve on later surgery? My first AVR was a Porcine 27mm, Current is a Bovine 23mm.

"Seen the light" is NOT the term. My tissue valves have served their purpose in my younger years. Mechanical valves also have a lifespan and other inherent risks I was not ready to take as a younger man. Where I am now in parenting and raising my kids, very physical lifestyle when younger, and...

Can doctors insert a larger Mechanical valve on later surgery? My first AVR was a Porcine 27mm, Current is a Bovine 23mm.

That's good info! My valve was decreased from a 27mm to a 23mm, and I notice it in a negative way every day. The replacement valve measurements shown refer to differing parts of the annulus' diameter. Some manufacturers refer to inner diameter, some outer diameter, some exterior diameter. Some...

Can doctors insert a larger Mechanical valve on later surgery? My first AVR was a Porcine 27mm, Current is a Bovine 23mm. Anyone have history of getting a larger valve at a later date?

Anyone had 3 valve replacement surgeries?

Love it! So good to hear of similar stories of decisions made and reasoning for surgical choices! Surviving 4 puts my perspective back on life and less focus on meeting my maker "prematurely." God must still have plans for us.
