Funky MRI results and Hello Again

Yes good assessment. I guess why fixated on this is because this is the first time since having been monitored that something seemingly changed...first mri was 10 years ago. So I'm trying to assess is it real movement or just error. I guess I will know more after my next scan in October. Until...

Funky MRI results and Hello Again

Hi thanks for the reply. Gated means they synchronize the image with motion of the heart so they account for movement in between beats. It's the most accurate. Non gated means they don't do that. I read an paper on this but can't find it now. The paper noted that with non gated measurements can...

Funky MRI results and Hello Again

Hi everyone Finally had a follow-up today wih my surgeon Dr. Verma. He wasn't too concerned about the increase in size of my ascending aorta. I asked him why this test was done using non gated mri and previous was gated. He said he didn't know and it was frustrating that they used different...

Seeking feedback-recently diagnosed w BAV and 51mm AoRoot

Hi cliff I'm from Toronto, not sure where in Canada you are from but if you are in the Toronto area I recommend a referal to Dr. Verma at st.mikes, he's a surgeon and scientist. He specializes in BAV and dilated aortas. A second opinion is certainly appropriate.

    BAV/Aneurysm Study in Canada

Hi everyone Just an update, good news bad news. Bad news is I do not qualify for the study. Good news is because the study dr reviewed my recent MRI and my ascending aorta is only 37mm. Apparently the study doesn't look at the root but only ascending aorta and criteria is larger than 37mm. I...

8 weeks postop update - back in the gym!

Hi Tirone Congrats on the progress and good to hear another member doing well! My situation is similar to yours, 31 BAV and dilated root. My valve is working great though so it looks like my root will be the limiting case for surgery but still watching and waiting. I see you had the root...

    BAV tinnitus

Actually when I met with the surgeon he said they are no longer calling BAV a disease but I gene variant. Something to do with the fact that it's fully curable and 2% if the population has it.
