Received copy of PCP's Echo that he waited 6 months to tell me about...

Report states:

1. Left ventricle systolic function is hyperdynamic, ejection fraction 75%.
I've only seen info. regarding lower EF. Don't know yet what it means to be abnormally high.
2. Right Ventricular Systolic Pressure (RVSP) elevated 45 mm Hg.
I guess this is why on the first visit with Cardiologist he wants to do a heart cath. instead of an echo. I read this was the gold standard for this issue.
3. Moderate to severe aortic stenosis, V max 3.6 m/sec. Mean gradient 26 mm Hg "Recommend a TEE for further evaluation."
No idea what these numbers mean. I'm having such a hard time focusing at my desk, it's so frustrating!

When I was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm, I think I researched to the far edges of the internet and saw just about everything out there.
I surprised and flustered a neurosurgeon when he was giving me his biased opinion on the way he wanted handle it and outright denied other options were available.
I think there's always resulting issues from any major surgery. My ability to concentrate and focus as well as double vision makes this hard for me to do now.

I'm so grateful to learn about the Cleveland Clinic, and more, from this forum and that's where I'll go if at all possible. I'll be doing minimal research this time.

My thanks to all,
Take care
Karen

Hi Karen,

My ejection fraction is also hyperdynamic and around 75% - it's been that before aortic valve replacement and often since. I've never quite understood what hyperdynamic means !

I copied this about the gradients...as the stenosis gets narrower the gradients increase:
DegreeMean gradient
(mmHg)
Aortic valve area
(cm2)
Severity of aortic stenosis[22]
Mild<25>1.5
Moderate25 - 401.0 - 1.5
Severe>40< 1.0
Very severe>70< 0.6
