Wow I can’t believe it’s been almost a month since my surgery. I have to remind myself of where I came from and realize that the pain I still feel is not like it was. I still have a lot of nerve pain around my chest and breast area…. I don’t know if being bustier makes it worse, but that has been the most u pleasant part! I will start rehab in a couple of weeks. Trying g to get some good movement in at home. I haven’t had any complications thank God. Still trying to get INR where I’d like it but it’s not too bad. I’m at 2.3 and although my nurse said 2-3 is range, I’d like it 2.5-3. I’ll start the Coumadin clinic next week.

I look back and remember before surgery I couldn’t even walk any more I felt so awful, calls to 911 bc heart palpitations and feeling like I couldn’t breathe or I was going to pass out. Scary stuff for me and my 5 year old. It seems surreal now. Looking forward to further progress and running my first race!

Oh and im On a fb group and I keep wanting to send Pellicle their way when they talk about low INR and on-x. 👀

Hi

2.3 is good. There is nothing wrong with 2.3

Don't forget the graph

Thanks for the kind words, but I like to keep Facebook to exactly my actual friends. I don't have anyone "Friended" on Facebook that I don't personally know.

Pretty soon you'll find you forgot your first anniversary :)

Keep on tikking ...

Best Wishes

Saving this chart! Thank you! I think I’ve seen it before but forgot about it. This lessens my anxiety.

Happy to help

Knowledge of these things takes a lot of the anxiety (which the medical system seems to propagate) about warfarin away.

If you don't mind, please don't put that up on facebook, it's my own image. I generated it (from a study) for the ebook I'm presently writing on INR management

Thanks

No problem! I was keeping it for myself.

2.3 is great.....like you my target range is 2.5-3 but it's a small window to stay in constantly I think.

During the recent xmas silly season break, I made the executive decision to make it 2.5-3.5 as the booze factor increased my INR, so I had to closely monitor it and made a few adjustments as one stage I had a 4.6 (still safe), skipped the dose that night then resumed to my normal dose and it came down within a few days to my 2.5-3.5

Are you looking to self manage your INR? these devices give you a lot of freedom and provide immediate feedback for your INR.

All the best, the INR/Warfarin you will see is not big deal, i learnt all of it here from Pellicle; now on my 8th year since AVR,

Also, when you have time, maybe consider getting home testing unit like coagucheck or the others alike, for me the ccheck works fine, in winter i do not go to the lab, do all testing at home, and spring summer i go to the lab just because does not cost me anything other than take a bus,.

I believe I have to wait 6 months first. I don’t mind the lab. It’s leas than 10 minutes from my house and she said the goal is to in every 6 weeks once stabilized.

I believe the normal wait time for home testing is three months. BTW, waiting six weeks between INR tests would worry me a little. That timing might be often enough for the majority of INR patients such as a-fib and other conditions requiring anti-coagulation but it would be too long for me.......but then, I am a little gunshy about maintaining proper INR since my stroke......that was due to low INR. FWIW I have been stable for decades......but I still test every two weeks.

Thank you for sharing! I wasn’t sure if that was the norm and seemed a little long to wait in between testing! It actually made me nervous. 2 weeks makes the most sense as it’s really just a finger prick and doesn’t take much time at all to make sure all is well. Thank you for your input. I think the further I go, I will just keep it at that. The lady seemed to be open with whatever I was comfortable with.
