I leave this Monday for CC. Tests all week and then aortic valve replacement with ascending aorta on Friday, June 17.

This has all moved quite quickly. Sent echo results to CC on May 24, surgeon response and recommendation on June 2, surgery scheduled for June 17. It's nice to get it moving and I'm looking forward to getting on with the healing process. But it's certainly becoming real now. Wish me luck.

Wishing you resilience for the Journey!

Interesting you have to be there for a week to do tests though I had a heart cath done at home & maybe you will be doing one there.
I had all of my CC tests done the day before surgery to minimize my time there.

Best wishes. I think you will be pleased with the level of care you receive.

Suggestion on food/meal process while you are in recovery - I had my first meal show up and for some reason it made me think my meals were planned. It's not planned so look for a menu. I recall having to wait quite a while for the meals to arrive in my room so order well ahead of when you think you'll want to eat. Note the food is not really that tasty but that's to be expected.

Actually The food is remarkably terrible… And definitely called the minute it opens. Once I was cleared to a pretty normal diet my wife was sneaking me some food from the Mediterranean place for lunch… And bringing me some coffee from Starbucks. Best of luck… It’s a great place to have this procedure.

There is no better place in the US for your car they have been #1 rated for something like 24 straight years. Mayo in MN is #2 usually. IF you search you will find my posts form my experience 3 years ago. Follow their recommendation for walking and moving around and you will be fine. I had a full chest crack and if my INR would have increased quickly enough would have been discharged in 4 days, took 7 for my INR to hit 2.0 for them to let me go.

The food is bad, but I used to send my wife down to cafeteria to get me stuff. or should would bring stuff each day.

Godspeed to you! It is remarkable how the top hospitals and surgeons have this down like it is nothing. The numbers are so much in your favor and you will do great!

Yes agree and you will want to move around. The days in the hospital start getting long after you get to feeling better.

I had surgery on a Wednesday and checked out Monday late afternoon. The last day or so was mostly a hold until my INR went up. I stuck around an extra day for a post-op check out with the APRN. Walked around Case Western Reserve U area, worked in a quick trip to the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame and hit the road.

Good luck! Great place with excellent surgeons and staff. I disagree with some of the earlier comments regarding food. Maybe improvements were made since they were there. I was there in Feb 2021 and thought it was really good. You are provided with a menu and can order anytime.
Regardless of any test results that you sent, you are probably getting all of the tests redone today/tomorrow. They do very comprehensive cardio echo's.
Curious to hear what valve you chose and who your surgeon is.
Take care, trust in the staff, and good luck!
