More gym goodness - 8 week update

Hey Gymguy, I saw your thread and figured I'd post something. I am a 20 year old college student who trains in both power lifting and brazilian jiu jitsui. My squat is around 225, bench 175, Deadlift 250 ish. I am 5'8 165. Just wanted to shout out to another member of this forum who has had OHS...

    Eye issues.

Don't panic, sounds like your getting auras. Since my repair surgery over a year ago, I get them from time to time. The cause is still unknown, but it certainly seems to appear post op for many people. I noticed when on beta-blockers I had them occur more often. Over time you will get used to...

    How Many Still Exercise?

I run lift weights and participate in boxing/mma classes. With my repaired mitral valve, my body can now handle a heavy physical workload. I'd highly recomend getting into exorsize once you heal up, not only is it good for you but it can be fun as well.

    Pacer leads still in...Ouch!

My wires are still in post op 6months no pain or problem. However, I did notice a sharp pain to the touch where the pacers were during the first two-three weeks post op.

Mechanical aortic valves and weight lifting

Well I don't have a mechanical valve but I had mine repaired. I am currently 6 months post op and back to lifting heavy weights. I saw someone posted to avoid heavy chest exorsizes however, I have been doing bench press for over a month now with no problems. I am back to benching my own weights...

    Strange Lights

I would not worry all too much about it, I believe your expierencing visual auras. I too have gotten them quite often post op and I have found many members on here have as well. My own theory on why we get them is the beta blockers and other vasodilators messing with the blood flow around the...

Beta blockers, Heart Rate Monitors and exercise

I am a 19 year old college athlete who had to get my mv repaired followed by a daily dose of a beta blocker coreg. It certainly has a noticble effect on my heart rate as well as my overall energy levels. Nonetheless I have continued to push through this barrier and I am seeing my stamania reach...

    Depression after OHS?

I think I can relate to you on how I felt during my post op period. I am a college freshman who had to leave all my friends and new life at college to go home the second semester and undergo OHS. Post op was very hard because I had never felt so terrible in my life. Besides feeling terrible all...

    Anyone Medication-Free after valve surgery?

I too have experienced many visual auras since my post op started which included me taking Coreg. I hate them so much and I hate how tired the medicine makes me feel. I am supposed to be off all meds once I hit the one year mark post op. I am around 5 months.

    Low stamina

I have only been about two months post op but I am a college athlete so I understand your urge to get back to the level of endurance before the surgery. I have noticed during my post op period that I have alot of ups and downs. Some days I feel great and almost forget I had the surgery while...
