    14 year anniversary

Thanks to all of you. Ann, we sure go back a long way, don't we? She's right: when Hank first started this site, we were communicating via e-mail. It was crazy, as I would come home from work, start my dial-up connection (dinosaur days), and open over 100 e-mails. It was crazy, but it was a...

Luck of the Irish. 12 Years on 3-17-11

Wow, I haven't been on here in awhile. In fact, I just posted my own anniversary this morning. Sorry I missed this post, my friend. I'm sure we chatted on FB about it, but I needed to make it official on this wonderful site in which we met.

    14 year anniversary

I am a long time member (since the days of this site's inception) who celebrates her 14th year with a St. Jude's mitral valve. I'm still clicking this many years after the fact.

My St. Jude's turned 13 yesterday.

Thanks to all Thanks to all Thanks to all of you for your good wishes. I don't always get on this forum now as it seems most of my free time is spent researching my husband's condition now, but I do gravitate back every now and then. Janie and I are two of the original members, going all the...

My St. Jude's turned 13 yesterday.

Thanks, all, for your good wishes. It seems such a dim memory now compared to what my dear husband is enduring. Any prayers and good thoughts are much appreciated.

My St. Jude's turned 13 yesterday.

13 years ago yesterday, I received my St. Jude's mitral valve at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. (now Clarian Health), and I'm still ticking. I almost forgot about it since my husband is dealing with some major health issues himself, but I remembered and thought I would post...

    beta blockers and weight gain

Rob, he switched me from propranalol 60 to atenelol 25. I've been on it for two days so time will tell. Your 18 pound loss is incredible. You're very dedicated with your workout, and I guess I'm going to have to really work at it. I like how I feel on a bb so I wouldn't want to stop taking...

    beta blockers and weight gain

Thanks again for your replies, and hello, Michelle. You're right, teaching doesn't involve much sitting, does it? Scurrying is the most accurate description that I can give it - moving all over a building the size of a shopping mall is exhausting, especially under the constraints of a bell...

    Another thread from me...Reynaud's Syndrome

Hi, Debi. Even though I've never been formally diagnosed, I believe I may have a mild form of it. There are times when the tips of my toes go completely numb. They always have a whitish color about them that indicates to me that there's no blood flow. I usually warm my feet up in a tub of...

    beta blockers and weight gain

Thanks all for your replies. I knew theoretically why I should be gaining weight - lower heart rate, fewer calories burned - but I feel as though there are some beta blockers out there that don't cause weight gain. I don't exercise much in the traditional treadmill, running kind of way, but as...

    beta blockers and weight gain

I know this has been discussed before, but I thought I would throw it out there to get some more opinions. Went on a beta blocker (propranolol) six months ago and have put on 10 pounds. Not happy about my clothes not fitting but do like the lower heart rate and fewer migraine auras. Called...

    Christina G Winkelman 11/02/1946-12/15/2009

Oh my gosh, I am just shocked to read this. Christina and I roomed together at the Golden reunion years ago, and I remember her to be such a loving and friendly woman. My heart goes out to her family as they deal with her passing.

I think my GI will want a colonoscopy...anyone with experience want to weigh in?

I just recently posted this on the endoscopy thread, but I just recently went through both a few months ago, and my cardio said "no coming off Coumadin", and the reluctant GI said he would do it. He did stress that he wouldn't cut off any large polyps with me on, but it was a moot point in that...

    Endoscopy and Warfarin

I just recently had two endoscopies, one in late summer and a follow up in September. Didn't come off Coumadin either time. I don't think it's necessary, but that's just my humble opinion based on my experience.
