Does COVID affect anticoagulation with patients on Warfarin? Affect INR?

I was tested positve for Covid 19 five weeks ago but fortunately I only had mild symptoms (loss of taste and smell and a sore throat). My INR did not change that much.

    Test Strip Supplier?

I live in the UK and bought my coaguchek meter a year ago as my old one broke down. I have just checked and I can buy the strips from them as well. I get my teststrips on prescription but I own my own meter. It must be a US issue. Could you order them from the UK?

    Corona Virus Feb 2020

I have had a mechanical heart valve which was replaced 10 years ago. I run or swim every day. Would I be considered to still have cardio vascular disease? I.e would someone with a new heart valve be in the group that needs to isolate for 4 months

anyone on warfarin (coumadine) who uses a fitbit or other activity tracker

I use my Garmin Fenix 5x along with MyFitnessPal. I try to balance calories in and out. I self test my INR (coagucheck). My INR has generally been stable except for a few blips due to illness or change in medication (steroids for two weeks last year).

Mild anemia after AVR with a mechanical valve

This was a post I started in October 2011. Looks like nothing has changed. https://www.valvereplacement.org/threads/slightly-aneamic.40029/

Mild anemia after AVR with a mechanical valve

Thanks for your reply. It is good to know someone else has noticed the same thing. I have felt this was the cause of my change in athletic performance several years ago. I did ask the questions on this forum soon after my AVR but no one else could back it up. I notice you had your AVR at the...

Mild anemia after AVR with a mechanical valve

Has anyone with a mechanical aortic valve noticed they are mildly anemic after surgery. My valve was replaced over 9 years ago and it became obvious soon after that I found the hills much more difficult to run up and I was at least a minute a mile slower of the flat. It is not noticeable with...

Staying in shape during recovery from open-heart surgery.

After my AVR in February 2010 all I wanted to do was to get back to full fitness. I had seen some posts on a forum by people who had just had valve replacement and they were exercising hard on exercise bikes 3 weeks after surgery (probably bravado!!!). I now know that trying to exercise hard...

Does anyone know whether I can have a MRI scan with a CarboMedics mechanical aortic valve. My GP did not know. Thanks Martin

Running in cold weather after AVR

Are you on beta blockers?. I had lots of discomfort whilst running in the cold early on after AVR. My hands and feet got painfully sore in the cold and I could hear the new valve more clearly. Most of this stopped when I was taken off beta blockers. Before being taken off beta blockers I bought...

    Running after AVR

I am about a minute a mile slower after AVR and running up hills is much harder - hills were my strong point pre AVR. If I had not run before I would not have problem as there is no reference to live up to. Once I realised I was going to be slower rather than quicker after surgery. I started...

    Blackout whilst running

I have just been back to A&E and told them about my concerns. I had a good talk to an experienced doctor about the timeline of the events including when the tests were carried and what I felt like before and after the blackout. I had another ECG which showed no problems. The doctor was happy...
