    Five years in January!

My replacement was in January 2010, some problems with a crackling chest ever since which despite investigation by a specialist still persists. It is mainly when I lie down on my left side . I have had Covid and to me it was more like a dose of flu but the recovery does take time. Best wishes to...

Will someone please help? What range do you have to be in INR for surgery????

I recently had a procedure to check my mechanical heart valve's performance and had to come off Warfarin. I took Clexane (Lovenox) for a week before and 4 days after with my Warfarin until my INR was back to normal. My INR went down to 1.1 without Warfarin and is now back to 2.4 ish.

Back to surgery - at 7 months

Similar problem Similar problem I have to have my valve checked out for a similar problem. It is not an unusual effect to have some scar tissue growth around the valve apparantly. I have to come off Warfarin for 5 days next week and have injections at the hospital, followed by a camera check...

Allergies or Sinus. What do you take?

I find that Fexofenadine works best for me but it in my case needs to be taken first thing in the morning. I also have a Beconase inhaler for when my nose clogs up. It is particularly bad at this time of year but for me, so far so good.

If you have a mechanical valve...

My valve only ticks in some positions, if I lay flat on my back it thumps a bit at times too. I usually keep moving about until I can't hear it. One thing you could try is coughing and clearing your chest as this often helps me another thing I have found is to wear an ear plug for 5 minutes...

    memory foam beds

I have moved this thread to small talk as it was under the incorrect heading previously. I have a new memory foam bed and have found that I cough and sneeze anywhere near it. I am obviously allergic to visco foam. Since my op over a year ago my chest has been very sensitive and allergic to a...

    frequency of INR testing

In the U.K. my medics tested me once a week for a few weeks after leaving hospital, my consultant then wanted me tested once a fortnight until one year and now I am on once a month. My INR has been stable at 2.5 now for 6 months which has not changed my warfarin intake at 6mg per day. You may...

Since my op over a year ago my chest has been very sensitive and allergic to a few things but this is the worst. Has anyone else had a similar experience? I am not sure...

Cardiac Rehab...is it really that helpful?

Scott I am not defending myself, nor am I splitting hairs. Please do not tell me how to wtite professionaly. Maybe in the U.K. the term 'fool' does not have the connotations it has in the USA. In England it means, someone who does not act reasonably and responsibly and makes people laugh at...

Cardiac Rehab...is it really that helpful?

Jkm7 I did say that I thought you would be a fool not to use it, not that you are a fool. I gave my honest opinion on cardiac rehab and the figures of 24 for and 1 against seem to support that. I did not say you were a fool but after reading your totally out of order response then perhaps I can...

Surgical scar after open heart surgery???

My scar doesn't show much and it is certainly not, nor ever has been stomach turning for even the weakest anatomy. Think instead what he would have looked like without it in a years time. Be grateful that these things can be mended nowadays and that you are not about to become a widow. I look...
