    Cipro antibiotic while on Warfarin

I have thought about that. I'll run it by my primary Dr when I go-in for my yearly physical. I don't have my first echo follow-up till April. Will be awesome to see the new valve!

    Cipro antibiotic while on Warfarin

I called my INR supply company and ordered some more test strips. I am going to monitor every 2-3 days and see what the results will be, and document of course. That way if I have to go back on the Cipro again down the road, I'll know what the results will be like. I'm on 24mg a week of...

    Cipro antibiotic while on Warfarin

Thank you for the info Chuck! Very helpful. I do home test every two weeks. I have the On-X valve so my target INR is 1.5-2.0. It has been very stable between 1.6-1.8 for months now and I honestly really don't watch what I eat or drink. I still take 81mg aspirin daily, mostly Tylenol for back...

    Cipro antibiotic while on Warfarin

I have a bacterial infection and my doctor is weighing the options of putting me on Cipro, which I used to take with no problem. Has anyone else here been on Cipro while on Warfarin, and how much did you have to adjust the dosing? I know Cipro raises the INR, and is different in everyone, but am...

    A-fib/flutter

I had a couple of flutters or light A-fib when I came-off the Metoprolol. I was taking 25mg once daily and it was like magic. I had my cardiologist keep me on it for 6 months post-op, and towards the end (the last 3 weeks), I weened myself down to 12.5mg daily, then nothing. Since then, I...

    Aortic Valve Choices

It will get better. Just remember that organs have been moved around in your chest cavity and have to settle back-in over time. Mine was a little audible after surgery, and now I am 10 months post surgery. It also depends on the position you are sitting or laying. When I breathe deeply, it is...

INR dose - hard to trust a GP

Consistency is the key. Bi-Weekly testing for the first few weeks is good. After 3-4 weeks, then weekly testing. Right now I am at 24mg a week. 5 days I take 4mg and the other two, 2mg. It took the INR clinic 2 months to figure out what to have me at. I eat normal, drink normal, INR is steady at...

    Dosing Question

Ha!!! Maybe I should be going for the hard liquor instead! Actually on the days I had the beer, my next test my INR was in range at 2.1 and 2.2..... go figure.

    Dosing Question

My INR nurse has been changing the dosing at the same 15% for me as well. I think a few more weeks and it should be stable between 2.0-3.0

    Dosing Question

Exactly... That's what I keep telling the INR nurse but they seem to think that after a month everything should be stable. I do get tested twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays). I only have the 2mg pills so no splitting yet. I keep my diet consistent, have one beer a week, but my doctor says they...

    Dosing Question

Don't feel bad. My dosing has been all-over the place. I started on 7.5mg in the hospital. Then sent home and was told to take 6mg daily. Holy crud... that let to INR of 4.4. Some weeks my INR is 3.2, or a 2.5. It's all a guessing game till they figure it out. My doctor has said that Warfarin is...

Tomorrow is my day for AVR

I am off the pain meds. Withdrawals were the worst. Nightmares, cold sweats, the feeling of being pinned down, waking up every hour screaming in pain. Now I can sleep and have normal dreams which is a lot better. INR is taking its' dear sweet time. 2 weeks ago it was 2.1 and then 4 days later...

Tomorrow is my day for AVR

Was in ICU for a day and a half. Had a really hard time waking up and breathing on my own. I barely notice the clicking of the valve. If I breathe deep, I can feel the valve working and a hard pumping. Still have sternal muscle spasms that go up to my left arm, so still taking muscle relaxers...

Tomorrow is my day for AVR

Recovery is going well. At the 3 week mark and can't wait to get back to normal. Still some sternal discomfort, but is to be expected with the mini sternotomy.
