    I survived! So happy! :)

A few weeks ago I posted about my anxiety about my 2nd open heart surgery. I am 30, a thriving medical student but had to go through a tough breakup with my fiancé after she wanted to part ways for various reasons. That said, I did well. 5 days after and I am alive. New Pulmonary valve (tissue...

Thank you everyone. My doctor said, there is a 1% chance of mortality, intact he said its less than 1%. He was very calm and collective about it.

Looking for words of support (new post)

As much as I hate to say it, I kept my love life very private. There were issues I wasn't comfy with. If anything I was open about my love for her, writing poems and being affectionate for how lucky I am. I never let the world know the fire I was in. It wasn't until later I found out, she was...

ha! You don't know the half of it. I had gotten her a ring for our engagement. She wanted to return it, in fact I didn't. I got her a new one something she loved, so yes two rings! But in a later fight she called the first one a POS. I do have family, a great support system, classmates, and of...

I have my 2nd open heart surgery coming up to replace my pulmonary valve at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. My first was a TOF repair. A bit nervous, as this will be on C/P bypass. My biggest fear is my heart not restarting. Please keep me in your prayers and good thoughts!

Thanks for your words of support. It just sucks that 4 years down the drain. All I even was someone to support me. Thing is I am someone who has treated patients as an EMT and has had people literally die in my arms. I know what morbidity feels like and everyone in this forum as well. My doctor...

Having anxiety, my first PV replacement...at age 30

Thank you for your message. I apologize if my post came off as patronizing. That was not my intention. I was trying to see what people felt in terms of that specific person to match up to their own surgeon in terms of that. You are right, there are many many capable surgeons outside the USA. I...

Having anxiety, my first PV replacement...at age 30

Thanks for your well wishes. Well my particular surgeon operates out of Adult Congenital Heart Clinic. In fact, his title states "congenital heart surgeon". He was recently in the news in working on a 22 hour case. I mean I feel hes done many of these types of cases. You are indeed correct that...
