    Mitral Valve ring too small

Yup, I had MVR back on 01/30/2012 and having a misdiagnosis of exercise-induced asthma and getting out of shape (gained 22 pounds since the surgery) or "deconditioned", I finally had a stress echo and it showed that the ring was too small and a TEE to confirm. How long can you go with a ring...

A repair after a failed repair?

Thank you for your comments and advice. I will seek other options. I think I will send my echo to a couple of surgeons and see what they recommend. I do want to get on with my life and I leaning towards a mechanical to 'get it over with' and not have to think about another repair. Thanks again!

A repair after a failed repair?

Hello! I had a repair 01/12 and for the past 6 months my valve has been leaking mod/severe so we are playing "the waiting game" again. I have noticed that people usually have a replacement after a repair. Is that the common thing? or is there a possibility for another repair after a failed one...

leaking valve just after 7 months

Hello I had my repair Jan 30, 2012 and my repair started leaking soon after too. It's moderately leaking now. My cardiologist said that she doesn't know if or when it'll go to severe but somehow she estimates "5-10 years" so I guess she knows something I don't?? Although, I know people who have...

    Allergies after repair

Hahaha I know, can we catch a break sometimes! If it's not wondering when open heart surgery is or if your ring is failing it's dying from allergies!

    Allergies after repair

Is it me or allergies kick your butt way more after you have a heart surgery than before? I had my repair Jan 30 and now when I work out when allergies are up, it feels like I'm working out with a flu! Also, my pulse goes sky high on the workouts that shouldn't elevate it as much. Just...

    6 month appt!

My mitral valve turns out to be very soft and it loosened the ring, which is now moderately leaking from my mitral valve repair surgery 6 months ago. 2 echos have confirmed that it's moderately leaking. My cardiologist thinks that I will need another surgery in the future....sigh. The pressure...

    Heavy lifting post surgery......

I do dumbbells upper body 15-30 pounds and lower body 25-40 but this is where I am stopping at. I put a limit on myself. My cardiologist said 15 pounds should be my overall limit without asking what I was lifting prior to giving birth and having my mitral valve blow. I think most cardiologists...

Is it okay to get your heart rate up?

I usually keep mine around 140-160 bpm, just to be on the safe side. I had my Mitral valve repaired 6-7 months ago.

To the young heart surgery patients

I understand that too! I am 31 and had it done 6-7 months ago and all the nurses made comments about how young I am and about my baby. Annoying!

When do you get feeling back?

Hello- Its been about 5.5 months since my OHS and my upper inner thigh is still numb...like the dentist numb... When do you get your nerves back full time? I feel it sometimes especially when my 2 year old steps on my thigh but that's about it. Thanks- Laura

Am I wrong about pre-existing condition?

Even if our hearts are "fixed" after surgery...it's still a pre-existing condition with the insurance companies if my husband loses his job for some reason and we lose our insurance?? Also, my PCP put dilated cardiomyopathy on my diagnosis that my cardiologist doesn't agree with. How can I get...
