Valve choice in a young man of 33 years old

Cani33, After being opened up for the OHS the doctors discovered that I had a membrane blocking a normal aortic valve , so all they had to do was cut it out. So I can’t tell you if I can hear the valve or not, I think that has a lot to do with your size anyway. I did do some research before...

Valve choice in a young man of 33 years old

Welcome to the forum, I'm 32 and my doctor seemed to think highly of the ON-X valve. Lots of poeple have had great success with the Saint Judes though. As already mentioned you and your surgeon will discuss the options. Each person has thier own reasons for what type of valve they would...

I need to make a choice soon

not much help but not much help but The possibility of reduced or no blood thinners would be something to consider. My surgeon recommended the ON-X, but I would give a lot of weight to what your surgeon was familiar with.

    Ok need some thoughts

I had a similar pain at about 15 days to.. It felt like someone would stick a sharp object under my ribs on the left side when I took anything more than a shallow breath, but it only happened to me at night. Mine would ease with some walking around (like 30 minutes of moving) I dread seeing...

    procrite, iron pills, feeling weak

Susan , that is worth some consideration. I really don't know, but my gut feeling is they will have black and white standards, I know an ekg, echo and 24 hour holter monitor (maybe a tread mill as well)will be some of them and I expect a flood of letters from doc's will also be required, but it...

    procrite, iron pills, feeling weak

I'm working on it. After thrashing around for 2 hours last night I took one (instead of two) Tylenol PM's that worked for me, so it's getting better. I have read that many others have trouble sleeping after OHS for a bit so I'm not to worried about it, but the fever pills I have to take the...

more good news and more questions more good news and more questions Yesterday, I got to fly the airplane (4.5 weeks post op) it was so nice. According to regulations I have to be with another pilot, until my FAA medical is returned to me, which will be a battle in itself. Amazing how much...

    zippers fear

My vote goes to ask to have another Dr, you have enough on your mind already. Two of my nurses where heartless in the way Dr. Hammer was and it almost doubled my pulse when they came in the room, even worse when I was alone. I would try to avoid her. Regardless try to stay positive the...

How long does it take to recover from mechanical valve replacement

Rufus, I hope you are feeling better today. I can't offer any advice on the INR but others will. I had no symptoms before my OHS and had some of the feelings that so many commonly do afterwards but now it is behind us and soon things will be better. I think it is very important to remain as...

    AVR Day 10 Update

That would be frustrating! I think the folks at my hospital were trying to melt my insurance card as well, must have 40 copies of that thing over there. Good luck on your continued recovery.

I'm 4 weeks post op, and find Tylenol PM's to be required if I want to get a good nights sleep. I do however wake up in a fog.

    procrite, iron pills, feeling weak

Thanks for the input gang, my energy has been growing steadily stronger since getting off the antibiotic, and the other pill, both which made me want to avoid food and had other side effects. I have found that I can handle one 325 mg iron pill a day without trouble. I had a major victory this...

    Not Depressed but . .

I think it normal I think it normal I have felt the ups and downs that the rest of the group mentioned as well, I think it will just take time. It can be hard to accept that we can't jump right back into life as it was before but it must be remembered that in time, it will be better. I...

    procrite, iron pills, feeling weak

Wow , kind of proves that we are still working with humans, I am embarrassed I didn't think of it myself. On a humorous side note The flight department called me today for a random drug test, I explained that this may not be the best of times!!
