Onyx aortic valve with 1.5-2.0 INR target

Okay Dick, gotcha. I'll retract my letter to Santa! Open heart surgery is brutal at any age, but at 86...... like old cars which go up in value, your valve will end up at the wreckers. Haha. Merry Christmas to you and it was nice once again to hear from you. BTW My bridging is going well and now...

Onyx aortic valve with 1.5-2.0 INR target

OMG dick0236, I cant believe you are still sporting that medieval device. LOL! You always stood out my mind as being on the leading edge of being an artificial heart valve recipient. Tell ya what, Im going to send a letter to Santa requesting he places a brand new Onyx valve under your tree.

Onyx aortic valve with 1.5-2.0 INR target

Truth be told, I am scheduled for a bilateral inguinal surgery. The internal medicine doctor is having me hold warfarin for 6 days post-op. I do not start bridging with Tinzaparin until after 2 days of stopping anticoagulation with warfarin. Hence 2 days of no anticoagulation other than 81mg...

Onyx aortic valve with 1.5-2.0 INR target

I was implanted with an Onyx aortic valve in March of 2011. I started home anticoagulation monitoring shortly after the surgery. I kept my INR close to 2 with no issues, often I would be 1.6-1.8. I was also taking 81 mg aspirin. Home anticoagulation monitoring was expensive and I botched too...

Considering selling my CoaguChek XS, any one interested?

I had to pay for mine as well. Sunlife does not cover the cost. It's disappointing that if you are diabetic the meter cost is covered.

    Endocarditis False Alarm (I HOPE!)

For those of us living with artificial heart parts, endocarditis I think is our biggest fear. Hang in their Norm. You lucked out and got a medical team that is looking out for you.

Considering selling my CoaguChek XS, any one interested?

It's easy to replace the meter. In my home town I simply see the GP, have them write a prescription for the device and head on down to London drugs or the Co-op and pick it up. I live 7 min from the lab. Working shift work means I do not have to book off work. Truly it is very easy for me...

Considering selling my CoaguChek XS, any one interested?

Hi I'm considering selling my CoaguChek XS, any one interested? It's way to convenient and easy for me to go to the lab, hence having my own monitor is not required. I've used it 8 times in 8 months. Hence it is less then a year old. It comes with a bunch of lancelets and one test strip...

    Are these approved in Canada?

Hi I have a couagcheck xs. In Alberta you can purchase the device through either the co-op or London drugs. A prescription is required. Co-op is pretty much unique to Alberta. London drug outlets are available in the 4 western provinces.

Need help - possible issue with on-x aortic valve replacement from 2010

It is very much appreciated that you have more or less closed this thread after discovery of the cause, which exonerated the On-X valve and the related procedure. I'm certain you had every On-X recipient on the rivet waiting for the results. I am indeed sorry to read what in fact may be the...

    Physical activity with high INR

I'm a lifer on warfarin because of a MAV which was implanted last Mar. I do not have extensive time in the program, but I'm very physically active. If it was me, I would continue being active but, be cautious about taking a spill.

    Bit Confused

Hey Jumpy Warfarin will Not prevent plaque in your arteries. It does it's work in the liver blocking vitamine K, which directly effects the clotting of blood. That's it! Life style changes, diet and supplements are your best bet for avoiding plaque build up in arteries.

    Stenosis VS. Regurgitation

Hey Jumpy I responded to your PM. Give me a shout, If you are bored on Sunday come on up to MCC and see me. Very interesting this regurgitation without stenosis, what a pity as your AV opens to 2.4cm2. That is near normal but, she's like the Titanic....a leaker.
