Yea it gets better Mike, at least it did for me. I had a complication two weeks after surgery, had a pericardial effusion. Once they took the liter of fluid off my heart things started to improve almost daily.

Have "tissue matching" tomorrow, whats that about?? I am having a bovine valve replacement of the Aortic Valve, and a Dacron Ascending Aorta graft. Why would they need to do a tissue match?

Hey Mike, good luck with your surgery, you'll be recovering before you know it. Yea, my surgeon told me the exact same thing, 15 to 20 years. And, hopefully by then they will be doing the reops trans cath. Where you having your surgery done at?

I agree with this100%. This is what my surgeon told me as well. They are basically doing it as a study only on the people who are medically unstable. However within the time that my tissue valve should last, they should be doing them regularly. To me it was worth going with the tissue valve so...

Yea, I dont think my Dad would want me to reschedule my surgery, he'd want me to press on so that I got better. I'd also want my son or daughter to press on as well if I were to die. But, this family made the right call for them, may not be the same call for all of us. My heart goes out to them...
