Lately I have been feeling palpitations in my throat from my heart beat. My pulse is normal as well as my blood pressure. I did have a aortic valve replacement (bovie) two and a half years ago. My last echo in July of last year showed all normal. Anyone have experience with this feeling?

I've had them in the veins going up my neck, usually just for a short time, and usually during a bout of tachycardia.

When I got them worse, and continuously, I went to Urgent Care, and they sent me, by ambulance, across the street to the hospital because my rhythm was messed up.

I don't want to sound alarmist, but I suggest that you call your cardiologist and describe the symptoms. The doctor may have you come in for an EKG. In my case, I would get these bouts of SVTs every few weeks, and they'd last for a few minutes - I never got 'used' to them, but I've been having them off and on for more than 40 years, and they always resolved in a few minutes -- until the last time it happened.

Again - with a bovine valve, I would call my cardio and describe the symptom This is something that I would NOT screw around with - especially if this has lasted for a while.

I have noticed ever since my surgery (bovine edwards valve and aneurysm repair) that when I am still and quiet I can feel my heart beat in my chest. Often wondered why. When I move around or I am doing anything, I do not notice it.

It could be because you're paying more attention to your heart. It could be because the heartbeat is transmitted through tissue to your sternum. It's been 29 years since I got my mechanical valve - I don't remember if I had that particular symptom or not, but I suspect that it's not unusual.

I have noticed the same thing after my surgery earlier this year. It has been decreasing, at first it was present regardless of position and it is only there all the time if I lay on my right side. If laying on my back or left side, it is only noticeable when I breathe in or hold my breath.

I have had a fluttering heartbeat for quite awhile, but my cardiologist says don't worry about it. He said he noticed it when I had my last Holter monitor test. I did some research online and a lot of the stuff said it's not a big deal unless you get short of breath and have chest pain and the usual symptoms of heart problems...hardly reassuring. I think diet has something to do with it, i.e. after you have a big meal the heart beats are irregular. I listen to the heartbeat regularly with a stethoscope, have an oxidation monitor and also take my own blood pressure. All that stuff is available and not very expensive at any drug store.
