Thanks for all of the good thoughts. I got discharged from the hospital last night. It feels so good to be home.

This time around was a markedly different experience as compared to my first AVR in 2010. This time I didn't seem to have any negative reaction to the anesthesia at all, which was game-changing for me. The staff at Adventist Health-Glendale were fantastic. Super fantastic. And I'm equally as happy about Dr. Capouya, my surgeon. I really don't know that I could have wished for a better experience.
Dr. Capouya even managed to save my old valve for me (I asked him to), so I have a memento from the last 8 1/2 years.
