Dayton,

Do you know if blood sample was sent to lab right away?! I heard that INR and sedimenation rates * "have to be interpreted with caution" if they were not delivered immediately to lab.

My INR was 2.4 at d's office w/office machine, the lab was 2.1 with above note. I asked the nurse and she said it was not delivered immediately.

The other day I home tested just before I went to see my cardiologist for I knew they were going to check me.

Monitor INR 4.0, lab results 3.4.

I know, they say it's hard to compare results but I wondered how close they would be. ;)

The only real way to do it is to test at the same time they take your blood at the lab, which means taking the machine with you. It's still comparing apples to oranges because the reagents are different and will yield different INR results. Your machine has an ISI index of 1 and most likely 2 or more for the labs. In other words, it's almost impossible to even be close between lab and machine. Trust your machine! Any time you don't, stick your wife and test her blood. It should come back between .9 to 1.2.

Eva, I'm sure there is a large delay, for I don't get results until the following day. For several years he was sending me next door to the hospital lab... I liked that better. Back when we traveled over the country in our motorhome, I always went to local hospital out patient labs.

Very good point Ross!

Myself, I trust the monitor more than the lab he uses. On my next appointment I plan to discuss going with the monitor 100%.
