I have been on 2mg every day and my range is 1.5-2.0 . It was 1.3 so i was put on 3mg for 2 days then rechecked it was 1.2 on Tuesday so I am on 3 mg for 5 days and 2mg 2 days.Should I take the higher dose the day before my blood work? I was thinking mon, tues, wed, fri, and sat by what I have taken so far this week. I have another INR on Friday so I was wondering if it would be better to take the 3 the day before my bloodwork? I am easily confused.

You didn't say how many days it was between your increased dose and when you were tested. To get an accurate reading, you need to wait at least 4 days after the dose change (some would say a week).

I'm surprised by your extremely Low Target Range, but note that your had a Repair and not a Replacement. Still, I'm surprised your target wasn't set between 2.0 and 3.0

Yay ! I was finally in range 2 times in a row, now I can wait a week for my next INR. I am now on 3mg 5 days and 4 mg 2 days. Small doses but I am not a very big person, 5'4" and on the thin side...

Believe that size is not a factor...on anticoag does and INR result

I don't believe that size is a factor in INR results. There was a time when my prince charming and I had the same dose and the same INR for 4 weeks. Later his dose was 2.0 more than mine for the same result.

And, I am loath to say, that he is 50 pounds less that I am!!!!!

I believe that anticoagulation results are closely associated with liver function.

Kind regards,

Blanche

I've seen big people who were in range on 2mg a day and small people who had to take 10 or more a day, so size has nothing to do with it, it's all about liver metabolism.

Congratulations on being in range now.

I agree that body size is not an indicator of required dose. I'm an average size woman who was taking 88 mg per week and never reached range when permitted to stop. It was likely I would have settled someplace around 100 mg per week if I had to continue.
